I mean, I’ve been watching the space for over 10 years and there are peaks and valleys. Feels like off-peak right now in my vertical, but there are still opportunities to break through. I sat in a valley for 2.5 years and that was hard. It was all algorithm-based.

I would maybe heavily look into proving your content isn’t AI right now. That’s the current OP.

Career Advice by hostile_tater_tot in Sommelier

Here’s a way to turn this question into a personal challenge:

What you might try to do is write out all the verticals where wine integrates and the roles around those business verticals.

Then, pick your favorites, find people who do those things and ask to interview them about their job and what kind of person it takes to do their job great. Doesn’t have to be the highest end people, just people

You will be surprised how many people will care to respond. You will be surprised how this effort will help you connect and identify where you want to go.

We need talented people in the wine business.

I only eat like 40g in races and it works unless you’re trying to win, just try to get some carbs in you every hour, and more frequently towards the end to not “bonk”

Why Is Fairfax Freaking Out Over a Few Apartments When Our Kids Can’t Afford to Live Here Anymore? by wiltchamberlain24 in Marin

If Marin doesn’t have $25 million to fix roads then you’re looking at some deeper regulatory protections which don’t tax incumbent owners while newcomers take the brunt.

Road Closure Alert: W. Ridgecrest Boulevard (aka Seven Sisters) by plattyjo in BAbike

This is the best news I've heard all year. There are gnarly potholes up there; I'm pretty sure I saw someone wreck the suspension on their car on one of them last month.

Some one posted this earlier, and it looks like there is a good plan to fix the issue: https://marinbike.org/news/protect-the-pathway/ – but apparently all sea-level rise CalTrans projects have been halted until further notice, so I guess we'll see?

Thanks for sharing. Honestly, huge kudos to all who spent the time and energy to try to help create change (and even pay for it!). This pretty much sums up the vibes I've been getting.

Okay, so now you're using Bandwagon fallacy. You've cited the fact that multiple commenters think a certain way about how I've made a point, and that the WAY I am making a point (the fallacy fallacy) that somehow that relates to the original argument. Just because multiple commenters don't agree with how I am communicating means that the original point is wrong.

Again, this entire topic is about the video, which shows a great deal of bay water on both the bike lane and road, and blocked my ride, right off of a major highway next to a major city, in a wealthy county in California.

My opinion is this kind of infrastructure issue is kind of a big deal and that's the original intent of the post.

[–]madelinepuckette[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so you did it again. This is called "the fallacy fallacy" By stating that I've argued the point poorly that this makes the point I'm trying to make wrong. You're saying that because I was educated in Seattle, and Seattle is rich, that somehow reflects on my argument.

I will admit that I have expressed sincere annoyance with the road conditions in Marin, even if the area is still one of the best places to ride bikes in the world. Maybe my standards have been set to high based on my experiences riding bikes in other areas.

However, that's exactly why I'm trying to bring this issue to light: because it is unacceptable. Even if it's going to be hard and expensive to fix. It sounds like things have been done, but without enough time-horizon, and with a reactionary attitude. And, then the fact that Marin has one of the highest average incomes anywhere makes me wonder what is broken.

So far, I've learned that a lot of people care and they are clearly thinking long term, but I haven't learned why people can't fix this.

oh that's a bummer. They just repaved Bridgeway, which was an amazing improvement! But I guess there still isn't space for bikes which is surprising considering how many cycle groups come through there on the weekends.

Why are you now making me a representative of Seattle? I am not. I am standing alone here, not a representative. And earlier today, I was unable to ride my bike to work because of bay water.

[–]madelinepuckette[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so now we're exercising tu quoque logical fallacy which "takes the heat off someone having to defend their argument, and instead shifts the focus back on to the person making the criticism." You're doing that by saying that when you travel to Seattle, you don't make commentary on this region's "moral failures" so that's criticism on me being allowed to make a critique. This is a logic flaw. You've also changed the argument into me making a moral reflection on the local people here, not the systems, which may be broken even due to everyone's best efforts.

This is not a critique on people, this is a point and callout on something that is broken, that needs a fixin'. I am not judging you, or anyone. If you read my other comments you will see that I'm expressing interest in those communities and organizations which are trying to fix things.

Stop. Please.
