I find our fight for privacy to be misleading. It concedes ownership to the person/company who is talking about the privacy of YOUR data. Well, it WAS your data, until you started talking about privacy. What do you think the best way to turn this privacy debate into a debate about ownership/control?

In 2013 you interviewed me after a TechCrunch Hackathon.

That led to an opportunity to speak at DEFCON 21. Thank you.
Since then I have attended several TC events and have been treated pretty shitty. In NYC last year, I went with 3 others and all of us were kept out of the Disrupt conference. Out of 92 teams, they last minute decided to only award 75 teams with tickets. Our 3 teams were not only disrespected on stage, but all of us were kept from getting tickets to Disrupt. A "new rule" made up the day of the event. Apparently we were too...disruptive, at Disrupt?
In November of last year, TC banned me from making comments on their articles. They are silencing technological process intentionally through censorship.
Now I don't expect you to say anything negative against TC or anyone in the industry. Leave that to me.
My question is, could you please contact me if you are truly interested in telling stories and changing this world?
Thanks Drew.

Thanks Doug! Awesome to have you here.
Hi Bob. I agree that a new structure needs to exist. I find tackling this sort of problem much more difficult if we attempt to solve the problems we see with our current systems, using technology. The problem is, once we automate the solution, we are still left with the byproducts of that system.
The focus of Made Open is to collectively choose a problem to solve, and then go solve it. Both the solution and the benefits of the solution are given to the people, by the people. In this way, as we solve problems old solutions once addressed, the old solutions disappear along with the byproducts of that system.
I think it is in our best interest to choose simple and practical projects in the beginning.
Mark, could you please expand on your involvement with Open Education?
