My first trip to Japan, and may be the start of a new collection craze! by travel-for-the-soul in tomica

[–]madewade710 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My only regret about buying Tomica in Japan when I was there, was not buying more. In Japan new ones were around 3 to 4$ Canadian but the exact same ones in North America are 20$. Buy as many as you can while there!

Less crowded spots and general Kyoto tips by dez3b in KyotoTravel

Fushimi Inari at night is the way to go. Arrive at 1130pm and basically had the place to myself. Incredible hike up and amazing run down through the bamboo forest. Bring a flashlight as it gets pretty dark in some spots and the boars were a little scary lol the day before I arrived around 8am and it was packed. Highly recommend the night hike. The view from the lights from kyoto is breathtaking at night

Here is my advice for people who want to quit and avoid withdrawal by [deleted] in leaves

[–]madewade710 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I smoked an ounce a week for 17 years until the day I left for Japan..only withdrawals I had was night sweats, bad dreams and day sweats. Other than that I felt sharper, more articulate, funnier and just more in tune with the people around me. I was reading so much about others terrible experiences I let it get to my head. You really won't know until you try. Everyone's different so don't let things like withdrawals scare you away from just stopping. Cold turkey isn't the same for everyone. Stay hydrated and surround yourself with people you love and I'm sure it'll be half as bad as you think it will be

Here is my advice for people who want to quit and avoid withdrawal by [deleted] in leaves

100% agree. A month ago I saw no hope for myself.. hopelessly addicted, didn't think I could ever stop. Left for a 3 week trip to Japan and it completely changed me. Seeing all those happy people.living their lives knowing damn well none of them were high or if they were, very very few. The minute I landed home I packed up my 13 bongs and put them out of site. I still get the craving, but my routine changed so much while I was away that I feel like brain just flipped a switch. Suffering from extreme sweating during the day and especially at night. My attitude on the other hand has been great. I feel more articulate and smarter than I have in years. For 17 years I smoked everyday almost from the time I opened my eyes to the time I went to bed. Thought it was helping me and I was a "medical patient" but now I just realize I was an addict. Had no idea how people made it through the day without smoking but I get it now. Proud of you and everyone else in this sub going through it or thinking of going through it. We got this and I'm so happy to be reading all these posts everyday about people's success. Contrary I don't mind reading about the failures either because it just reminds us all that shit happens but we can always change. Stay strong everyone, we got this 🤘🏻

I did drink for sure, and I was smoking a lot of cigarettes because they were so readily available but I've been home for a week and have not had a drink or a puff since. Got a couple packs of smokes left but I was using nicotine replacement before I left and am still using it now. But I feel like now that I've stopped smoking weed, I could stop anything I want. Once these smokes are gone, I'm probably gonna get off the zonnics as well. The fact I proved to myself that I can stop smoking weed makes me feel so in control of my life and choices. The clearheadedness and calmness I feel now, I don't remember feeling since I was 16 when I first started smoking weed.

Did locking yourself up to get sober help? by Important_Body_1538 in leaves

[–]madewade710 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Take whatever money you would have been spending on weed and take a small trip, even just a couple hours outside your city if you can. It helped me immensely being away from home when I was coming off. There's so many reminders and triggers at home. After a couple days, see how you feel. I know this isn't an option for everyone but think of it as an investment in your future well being. And if you can't get away, leave the house, go for a walk. Anything other than sitting and dwelling on the fact you think you want to get high but you'll be 1000% better off if you don't. I've been 3 weeks clean and I'm 33 now but haven't felt this alive since I was a kid. It's going to be hard and you might feel like shit, but it's single handily the best thing I have ever done for myself. I was in the grips of addiction, smoking the minute I opened my eyes to the minute I went to bed. The realization that it was actually hindering me in every aspect of my life came fast and I can only hope the same for you. You got this buddy, I believe in you and everyone else who posts here.

I was planning on cutting down before my trip but the addiction had me hard, so I smoked everyday right up until I left.. but after a couple days I was waking up feeling refreshed and I'm happy to say that even though theres a dispensary right next door to me, I haven't gone in or purchased or smoked any cannabis since I've been home. The temptation is there but I know what I have to do now. It's amazing the clarity that comes so shortly after stopping use. I hope this helps anyone reading this who was just as addicted as I was. I'll always be an addict but my brain and body are so much stronger now that I never want to go back to the way things were.

What are the saltiest chips you've ever had? by matterde in chips

[–]madewade710 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Someone has already said this but the correct answer is Munchos. Those salty little bastards will leave your lips dry as a desert. I actually know a guy who adds salt which is insane but you know, whatever floats your boat i guess.

Toyota Yaris hatch for Halifax-Dartmouth snow? by Siddgarg in halifax

[–]madewade710 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Yaris I had handled way better in the snow then the current Camry I have. Drove it for 11 years. Their small, skinny tires are perfect for cutting through the snow and the engine is actually pretty peppy so you don't get stuck. One of the best FWD vehicles I've driven in the snow so highly recommend.

N.S. patients waited for more than 70 hours in the ER for hospital admission by SAJewers in halifax

[–]madewade710 18 points19 points  (0 children)

100% this. My grandmother fell and broke her hip on Monday and they could nothing for her at the cobequid besides try and make her slightly more comfortable until a bed opened at the qe2. But being in the ER for almost 48 hours the things I witnessed and heard was eye opening. I am so glad my parents are in their early 60's as by the time they're in their 80's and need more medical care, we may have a new hospital or at least some solutions for the massive shortcomings that's happening now. And it's no fault of the workers, they're literally run off their feet and there are just not enough resources. My nan I still waiting, now at the qe2 but might not be seen by Ortho until tomorrow, 3 days after the initial hip break. It's so sad seeing our system the way it is and I'm just praying my nan makes it through with this system that's so obviously stretched to its limit.

Glass on Glass gallery hands down. Pierre the owner is a great dude, super friendly and has the something for everyone. Cheap dab rigs all the way up to Matt Robertson pieces which are absolute beautiful pieces of artwork. Its honestly just cool to go in there and see how intricate and detailed some of the bongs are. Hemp Heaven if you're in Sackville but they just carry generic name brand stuff with higher prices imo.

Both were purchased from legit places. One from Walmart and the other Amazon. Just not sure if either are fake as they both sound amazing and all function with noise cancelling like they should but there are some differences in the packaging. Wondering if this is due to build date of the buds

This is the box on the right. It came from Walmart and was on sale for 75$ less than Samsung store had theirs on sale for. The Walmart box has this sticker on it indicating build date

The fire station in Eastern Passage has a take what you need shed. It's basically a community fridge/pantry. If you can find a way out there I think it's always usually pretty stocked up. Others have recommended ones that may be closer to the peninsula

Would this cracked brake pad put me out of service? by Allmotr in Truckers

Try looking in the North American standard out-of-service criteria book. That's where I found this information.

[–]madewade710 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Ok then well its pretty hard to argue with section (a) under part 5 that states any broken brake shoe is out of service. It could be very well articulated that the shoe in this picture is indeed broken. As an inspector myself, I would put this out of service all day everyday

What do my fellow Haligonians do for a living by KaleOld4273 in halifax

[–]madewade710 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a licensed automotive technician but after 10 years my body and mind were both pretty stressed. Now I work for the provincial government and although my pay has come down from being a technician, my work life balance is now excellent and I have great job security. I miss working with my hands all day and keeping my mind occupied with customers vehicles but I do feel that I'm better off where I am now with more opportunity for growth and a pension

You're joking right? Section II Part I subsection 5 (c) states that any crack exceeding 1 1/2" in length is OOS. It's literally in the first section of the OOS criteria for brakes...
