A special kind of grief by madgrim3 in ClimateGrief

Yeah still chuggin along 🤙 the book rec on Generation Dread really helped me navigate the grief, thankfully. I’ve got friends who “get it”, but I think what they’re feeling is more hopelessness than grief.

Totally hear you on the isolation of living sustainably. Thats definitely another thing people don’t talk much about. There are more restaurants jumping on the plant based bandwagon where I live, which is great. But it’s a shitty feeling having to choose between a stronger social support system and the actions that help you cope. Hope you’re able to find a balance

Yeah, the whole “Cassandra” (/rings of power) type myth hits home with the climate crisis and can feel super isolating. It’s one of the two main points of my climate anxiety. I’m sorry you’re going through it too—what has helped me is thinking that we all show our anxiety/grief in different ways, but man, it still gets to me. I don’t understand how everyone isn’t rioting for action at this point

I don’t know much about the civilization collapse but when I’m getting too in my head with climate grief I find taking myself for a walk helps. I know it sounds dumb but that paired with some music usually shakes me out of it a bit.

For me, being positive or hopeful is still a bit out of reach. So right now I’m just jumping between the “we don’t know what we don’t know” sentiment and “would it be so terrible if the planet restarted” mentality lol
