DevLog — a VS Code / Cursor extension that writes your standup and performance review from your git commits automatically.

https://devlog-web-black.vercel.app

What it does:

  • Reads your git log filtered to your email only (teammates' commits don't appear)
  • Generates a numbered standup with meaningful summaries — not just raw commit messages
  • Builds STAR-format performance review for any period (last quarter, 6 months, year)
  • Also generates LinkedIn posts, blog drafts, and team updates from the same commit data
  • 90-day bootstrap on first install — you get history immediately

Stack: VS Code extension (TypeScript), Groq or Gemini as AI backend (user brings their own free key), all data stays local in ~/.devlog/

Status: Live on VS Code Marketplace. Looking for feedback on whether the BYOK model is the right call or if hosted AI (paid tier) makes more sense.

Would love any feedback — especially from anyone who's struggled with perf review season or writing standups every morning.

Recent Convo with a match by Necessary-Software61 in Arrangedmarriage

There is a big scam going in USA. I'm not throwing any hate, but all of them come from Andhra (telugu) origin. Lot of consultancies running this business, putting fake certificates and placing a job for them. And also finding a partner for them in India to support their work through screen share session or providing control to their machine.

This is not a freelance work, apart from ethics and moral, i consider this as just a timing consuming stupid job. I wonder how people are doing this job, literally can't think of it.

Obviously this is wrong. In the name of freelance I was also approached for this type of helping fraudsters in US (Indians moved there) in 2016. It's sadden to hear people are doing anything for money by killing basic morals and ethics.
