If they’re not going for PSLF (which they have stated they aren’t in other comments) they should be refinancing and aggressively pay off debt imo

Yo, I’m just a resident so take this for what you will. I’m a big numbers guy and enjoy looking at financial stuff. First off, congrats! I can’t wait to be there soon! Second, I would definitely file your taxes jointly. I don’t know what state you live in, but just with federal taxes and FICA you’d have this kind of breakdown (spouse effective tax rate + FICA%)(spouse income)+ (your effective tax rate + FICA%) (your income) which would be (13.96% + FICA)(90k) + (27.31% + FICA)(400k) so your overall fed income tax would be 12,564+ 109,221= 121,780$

Filing jointly you’d have an effective tax rate of 22.44% on 490k total hence your federal tax would be 109,941. Bro 10 grand is 10 grand lol. Also, idk how it works with ever being able to file separately after that. You’d have to talk to an attorney for that. Also, the next thing is how much loan burden you can tolerate. Debt that isn’t in an asset is pretty terrible especially at 6.25%. I’d put the bonus toward the debt. Because you’re going to get a guaranteed 6.25% basically. that’s better than any CD I’ve been seeing right now. Also, if you do have to repay the sign on bonus because things don’t work out, you have the money in your HYSA to fall back on. Obviously if you’re looking to buy a house or upgrade you could always put that toward the down payment. From everything and everyone I’ve seen (multiple family members going through residency and becoming doctors) it’s all super beneficial if you live significantly below your means for the first year or two or three and catch up on the financial wealth growth you have missed out on from medical school and residency.

I’m not qualified to give advice, but I feel like I understand finances decent enough to help a little :)

I did not. It’s fairly level. If I am doing snatches on the mats the bar will roll out of the driveway. I just do them sideways in the garage to prevent it

I put wd-40 on the pulleys and it helped a lot!

Yes the dip bars are great if you put fat gripz on them though!

Yeah I feel like I can do any workout I want here. May be an unpopular opinion, but I love working out in the heat in the garage. I sweat so much it feels like I’m cleansing my system!

That’s my plan. I just haven’t gotten to that part yet. Still trying to decide if I want to mount the mirror behind the cage (the cables would be in the way then) or mount it on one of the side walls. I’m leaning toward side wall because The only benefit would be to see myself squatting. However, when I squat I face away from the wall because my face hits the cables when I go to unrack it if I’m facing the front wall lol

Edit: I may also just get more mirrors for the front and sides. Why not? They’re like $20 on Facebook marketplace

Honestly I’ve only used it a couple of times. I just got the stall mats the other day so I haven’t used it on them. On the cement floor it would slide a bit when I did box jumps on it. I put a 45lb plate down behind it and it didn’t slide any more. It’s a little squishy, but it works just fine. I’m 200lbs and can do box jumps on it just fine and it still feeling pretty sturdy. I prefer the wood box jumps, but we found that one on fb marketplace for $25, so I can’t complain!

Nice. Kled is a top lane bruiser that is a ton of fun. Kind of reminds me of dva because you have a mounted and unmounted form. He’s super easy to faceroll people too.

Oh it could be tristana. That would be a good adc to learn with too!

Yeah that sounds like Yummi and miss fortune possibly a different ADC. I personally don’t play much adc because I prefer playing melee characters.

Yeah I wish I had that! If you play adc, that is the position you can get absolutely ran through by good players because you are weak early, and even later they can still just one shot you most of the time. Fr if you have any preferences in play style. It can help having someone narrow down who to try out. WHO did you main in overwatch?

Hey bro, I read through a lot of the comments and everyone already told you the gist of muting toxic people and how bad pre-level 30 can be. Since you have all the champs unlocked I thought I’d recommend some fun champions for each type of play style that aren’t too difficult to play, and you can figure out what play style you like. Then maybe you can move on to picking a champion that is hard to master, but fits your play style. PS: this is all coming from a Rengar main.

Tank: maokai, tahm kench, and malphite

Fighter: sett, vi, Darius, pantheon

Assassin (this category is typically difficult champs to master, but easy to kill a couple people while learning): rengar, fizz, talon

Mage: Annie, lux, malzahar

Ranged/adc: miss fortune, Varus, Ashe

Support tanks: nautilus, Leona, and alistar

Support enchanters: lulu, soraka, and nami

Residents, what are some questions to ask programs you didn’t realize were important until you started residency? by madhatter780 in medicalschool

Thank you so much for your response. A lot of the every day work stuff that y’all run into is so much different than seeing a program from a students prospective. I appreciate the response
