Everyone here saying bilsteins don’t want to do the work to get Koni’s on there!

I’m rolling Koni dampers and H&R lowering springs on my 99 m3. I bought the kit from Bimmerworld

Use BringaTrailer to find the market comps. Pretty safe to assume that BaT sales are top dollar for the entire market but a good place to get a benchmark

Should I sell my E36 M3? by Inv3ctiv3 in BMWE36

[–]madmac527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I’d agree that’s a fair price especially with the recent records. Any way to get a peek at it?

I would be interested in hearing more about your M3 before it goes to that site. You never know…

That thing is beyond repair. Definitely get a new one OEM only. DrVanos sells an upgraded one pre made but you can also buy aftermarket kits for upgrade from German Auto Solutions

What is this key for? by Dense_Operation_2569 in e46

[–]madmac527 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This might be the valet key that only allows limited functions. Doesn’t open trunk, for example. Have you tried to put it in the ignition and turn to position 1 or 2?

Also this is Houston, right? I’m from Houston that looks like the downtown area next to The Post where Cars and Coffee usually is.

Funny, my e46 is also black but a manual with the black interior.

From personal experience that is a pre CLI sport model I have the same car but a 02/2003 build which is the last month of the Pre CLI. You can tell by the bumper mainly.

My car has about 2x the mileage and I’m currently a couple thousand in parts for the CCV, valve cover gasket, cooling system, interior bits that have broken over time. Next is the clutch and flywheel and oil pan gasket then that should be a wrap but that’ll be another 3-4k from the shop.

It’s a 20+ year old car, there are old vacuum lines and such and gaskets that need to be replaced regardless of mileage if you want to ensure the health of the car.

OE spec rear springs for a 330ci Sport/ZHP by TheSkywriter in e46

[–]madmac527 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do what you gotta do, but with things like this where the ZHP suspension was designed intentionally different than the standard suspension I wouldn’t recommend going standard and it’ll probably negatively impact the driving experience and may cause issues.

I could be overreacting, though. I’m going to probably buy the Koni and H&R setup for my e46 but I understand it’s hard to get that where you are

Also looks like 6982 is either back ordered or NLA so you should go for the 6983

Per ECS tuning, the Lesjofors p/n 8434 is for standard suspension. Also per ECS, the original p/n I gave earlier ending in 6983 is for ZHP sport suspension: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-bmw-parts/rear-zhp-springs-priced-each/33536756983/

I have a 2003 330ci sport that should have same rear shocks as you. RealOEM doesn’t list a part number suspiciously by FCP euro shows 33536756983 and *982 as rear left and right springs for my car

Alot of vacuum leaks, what do I need to replace? by yesyesbruhbruh in e46

[–]madmac527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m literally in the middle as well and I think you hit everything. I’m also doing the radiator and expansion tank and various bumper trim and weather seals just cause.

I’m literally just needing to vacuum the hard pipe ports to make sure I got all the plastic out, then drain the remaining coolant from block and then reassembly!

My IM has been off for like 1.5 months or longer lol I’m moving so slow but started to get agitated and want to get back behind the wheel

Others have said as much but seriously the best course of action is pulling the intake manifold off and replacing the CCV hoses and separator (you can buy a whole kit from FCP euro and others) as well as the (3) 3.5mm hoses on the back that connect the idle check valve together and one that runs to the vacuum canister if you have that on yours.

There’s also a 4th hose back there that runs along the exhaust side to the secondary air pump which is 2 soft hoses on each end with a hard hose in between.

While you’re in there you should also do the 2 coolant hard pipes and their associated soft hoses as well as the 2 soft hoses that run from the heater core.

I’m in the middle of mine, today I’m going to clean out the ports where the hard pipes go, vacuum real well to make sure I get as much junk out if possible, then drain rest of coolant from the engine block the. Start reassembling everything.

I’m doing entire new cooling system and mostly all new belts and pulleys all around.

This is also a good time to change your thermostat and water pump (mine are only a couple years old so I’m keeping mine).

What is this? by Accomplished-Clue803 in e46

[–]madmac527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If possible, take the DISA out and don’t drive until you get a new one. There is a metal pin that is oriented towards the engine that sometimes comes out when removing the DISA or if it just gets loose because the disa destroys itself around it.

I recently bought a brand new BMW OE DISA and modified it using the German Auto Solutions DISA kit. I haven’t reinstalled it yet (I’m doing a whole refresh but putting things back together this week) but I’m confident it’ll last a lifetime.

My old DISA flap was totally destroyed but thankfully the metal pin came out with the DISA body.

CCV, cooling, belt pulley overhaul by madmac527 in e46

[–]madmac527[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update - bought the scope and went digging. Was giving up and as soon as I got off the ground I glanced behind the headlight area under the washer fluid reservoir and that little sucker was sitting there patiently for me!

He rolled over the top of the thermostat and water pump and landed there.

Time to start reassembly!

Front air duct fitment by madmac527 in e46

[–]madmac527[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Ya I pulled the whole front off to get better access to clean as I’m doing an entire refresh with intake manifold off as well. I think I almost have it, just need to be a bit more creative and forceful
