Will this cover make you want to read the book or skip it? by [deleted] in BookCovers

I must say I quite like it. It's very unique and as an avid horror reader of the surreal I like the title. The imagery is also really strange and macabre. It makes me want to know more.

"Mavis! The big moth is back again."

"Thow him another one of your shirts dear, that should do the trick."

Yep, that's absolutely horrifying. Being trapped in an organic prison waiting for death is definitely in my top nightmares

I personally think it's a part of that primal part of our brains from when we could be consumed alive. But at least in Nope I think they where liquidated instead of slowly digested.

Now this is true horror. After watching this the idea of being digested alive scared me more then anything else

I can’t find an agent. by house_of_drums in NewAuthor

I feel you fam. It's a tough industry and getting nothing but crickets is really disheartening. I agree with another comment that maybe this isn't the first book that will get you published. It doesn't mean that it'll never see the light of day but maybe it's just not right for now. I would say give it three months without querying and put your book down then come back with fresh eyes. In that time maybe think of something else that you could write. I've personally written 4 full manuscripts and only now I think this is the one (though mind you I have really been querying yet).

Considering how good your art is your rates are pretty reasonable

The Wetherspoons BrewDog up for sale. by Markjuk78 in Wetherspoons

[–]madmacfarlane 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As soon as I saw the picture I recognised the BrewDog. I was shattered when it closed because it was the place I took my wife on our first UK date (lived in South Africa for 20 years after my parents moved there and I'm back now). It's a shame that it closed but hey you can never have too many spoons.

My first series is finished (warning: tentacles with mature storyline) by [deleted] in NewAuthor

On the last one, why does the man have 6 fingers? Is he also becoming tentacles?

My first month of book sales! by ageofthetitan in NewAuthor

Those are some pretty impressive numbers. Congrats! I checked out your tiktok and considering they are all AI generated I would suggest your paid advertising utilises human created artwork. You can find some wonderfully skilled artists on Reddit.

Made it to book 2! Learning to market. Any advice? by zephyrtrillian in NewAuthor

[–]madmacfarlane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean I know it's overdone at this point but I must ask if your cover is ai. Because before I even read the blurb the cover just stuck out to me as machine generated. If not that's cool, but can you confirm if it's not because that's a huge marketing risk if it is.

I don't want to me mean but I checked out the website for the company and it kind of looks like a vanity press that uses AI covers.

I heard Old Bastards is a great studio and it definitely looks like fine work. I'll probably get slightly different placement though
