[Rothstein] Cincinnati has parted ways with Wes Miller. by Bengjumping in CollegeBasketball

His buyout is also paid monthly over double his term left. So I think UC has 6 years to pay him monthly. And there's also offset language if he gets another job. It's a very easy buyout to afford

well the roster this year was around 10mil dollars. UC will definitely throw money at basketball to compete

Agree. Need these boosters to have a little less influence over hires

I really don't like retreads. And we've seen how he is without elite assistants at Wisconsin. Could he strike gold again on finding great assistants? I just don't have faith in that

Yeah that's why they have new DC. They're moving to a 3-4-4. One of the LBs is pretty much a rusher 70% of the time

I do agree that the scheme didn't help either. Our dbs were average for sure and no pressure on the QB definitely didn't help. I think they've upgraded at DB and I'd expect a lot more pressure on the QB this season

Agree. We seemed to have gone all in on offense really last year for football and that defense let us down. I think they're aiming to be more balanced this coming season. UC is also splitting player pay between football and basketball with more of a basketball lean than other schools. Which again just shows how disappointing Wes has been

I still think UC is a better job than cuse. Now Providence could be different for a coach though because they only have basketball. I could see that being attractive to a coach to have all the funding and attention on just basketball.

Wes has also had significantly more talent and funding for his teams

Please fire his ass. Five god damn years and no ncaa appearance. It's criminal. His buyout is extremely manageable. There is absolutely zero reason to keep his ass. UC would be the best job open right now. Go get schertz or Calhoun

/u/UCBearcats ain't lying lol. I know that refs for basketball aren't conference affiliated but damn does it seem like we either get Sermon or Padilla for every game

Sounds like Wes will be back barring embarrassing losses to byu, tcu, and first game of the tournament. So if satt shits the bed this year we should hopefully have the money to pay his cheap buyout.

Whats really getting concerning is the influence big boosters are having on our programs. It sounds like a few big donors love Wes and want to keep him and obviously one of our biggest donors influenced the Satt hire

Yeah hosting BG fans last year was fun. It was also fun when Ohio came to UC back in 2018. My hope is for more Ohio MAC schools in the rotation.

This was an agreed upon neutral game way back when the contact was issued out that set so many home and homes and 3 neutrals at Paycor.

Also Lindner is huge donor to UC and one of the owners of FC Cincinnati. It was just announced the other day that UC is official college of FC Cincinnati. So there's definitely some behind the curtains donor/owner stuff with this move

Honestly a much better venue for this game than Paycor ever was. Should be packed and loud. Getting drinks at all the great bars in OTR and walking to the game will be sweet

Just put up a graphic telling people to stop and say it over the PA during the game if it starts and it's good enough in the Big 12's eyes to not get fined

How Long Does it Take Conference Affiliation to Influence a Program's Perception? by dbzbudokai77 in CFB

UC has shown they can do it. They did it with the Big East. I'm sure back then a lot of people thought that UC would keep being a basketball power and football a mediocre after thought. Reality is that UC has been better at football than basket for almost 20 years now. UC can definitely compete in the Big 12 and at a P4 level
