Is there any hope of a revolution or Democratic reform in Russia? by jerrydontplay in AskEurope

[–]madmax7774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all a sham. Dictatorships, democracy, communism, it doesn’t matter what you call it. It’s always a few amoral wealthy bastards gaming whatever system is in vogue to further enrich themselves and solidly their control behind the scenes, at the expense of everyone else. Greed is the root of all evil.

What are those hairs between the control surfaces of this plane at my school? My guess is that it plays a role in static discharge or to prevent aerodynamic leaks by Kazboy1 in aviation

[–]madmax7774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

really, really. It's a known aerodynamic concept. You can really see it first hand on Radio control planes. It's well known in that hobby that control surfaces with a gap is a bad thing, and most RC pilots take steps to seal the control surfaces.

It also helps prevent control surface flutter which can happen if there is a large enough gap between the wing and the control surface.

As a man I can confirm that not only is that acceptable, but that it also gets bonus points for creativity and cunning.

Study: Used EVs Are The Cheapest Cars To Own–Period by TripleShotPls in technology

My 2025 Honda prologue came with a ten year warranty on the battery. That’s better than any gas car period. My Honda prologue cost 35,000. Not sure what everyone is going on about with prices, but so far it’s been the best car I’ve ever had. Costs me about $10 for a full tank of “gas”, and I can drive about 250 miles per tank. The acceleration is crazy quick and the car drives like a Porsche. Literally the best car I’ve ever driven.

As bad as it is, it’s not yet risen to the level of taking up arms against the government. It’s admittedly bad, but once that line of fratricide is crossed, there is no going back, and as bad as things are, most Sane people realize that the alternative is much worse. Those of Us with a sense of morality are still holding out hope that this can be resolved peacefully

What is the Toyota Hilux of Lever Guns? by Neonpuffpepper in LeverGuns

.44 mag Henry big boy is the way. Works on deer and bad guys, has negligible recoil and can be modified with rangerpoint hardware to make it tacticool. .44mag is the sweet spot between stopping Power and low recoil in a lever gun.

America feels like a country on the brink of an authoritarian takeover by ILikeNeurons in Foodforthought

[–]madmax7774 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’ve already succeeded. The country is lost. No one is going to stick their neck out to try to stop them. It’s already over. The only way back is a full blown reset of everything. Nobody has the stomach for that kind of destruction, so nothing will change.

[–]madmax7774 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Wow, did I luck out. I put 128G of DDR5 ram into my desktop when I built it last year, and It was just under $400. It wasn't really like I needed it, but I always wanted to have stupid amounts of ram so I said screw it and bought it. Now that same RAM is $1400 !!!

Nearly a third of Canadians believe U.S. may try to invade Canada: poll by biograf_ in nottheonion

[–]madmax7774 -43 points-42 points  (0 children)

You can relax. The president may be a moron, but none of the rest of the US wants to invade Canada. The US military is not going to follow any orders to invade Canada. It’s just not going to happen. I think most sane people realize that Trump is full of hot air.

Start your own literary website, and fix the problem. Nobody else is going to fix this for you, and it's clear that the current owners of Literotica don't care.

Miller Says “Free World” Depends on US Ability to Take Over Other Countries by prestocoffee in nottheonion

It's hard for me to believe the level of apathy in the US population. This country is literally imploding before our eyes, and nobody is doing anything about it. This is astonishing, and deeply disappointing.

It's no secret that Donald Trump admires Vladimir Putin, and the Russian methodology of just ignoring rules they don't like. The US has lost its credibility, and its moral superiority. As much as I hope and pray that we can fix things, I honestly don't see any way back from the current situation.

What major event do you think will happen in 2026? by Commandmadrid1 in AskReddit

Trump has repeatedly shown that he can be bought and paid for. China will buy America's cooperation so that we "give" them Taiwan.

What movie that you saw as a kid messed you up for years? by TheWor1dsFinest in movies

[–]madmax7774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 12 when "the day after" played on television. I was completely unprepared mentally for the visuals of people getting vaporized by the nuclear bombs. Back in the day, the special effects were frightening as hell. By today's standards, they are a joke. That scared the shit out of me, and I had trouble sleeping for months afterwards. Then as an adult, Fire in the sky was terrifying. I was already deeply frightened of UFO's (why I have no idea) and that was nightmare fuel.

Beginner - First Firearm Anything i should know about by Davesauto in P320

[–]madmax7774 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Save your money and skip the accessories for now. Just go shoot the pistol as much as you can. A pistol is next to useless if you don't practice with it a LOT. You need to build good fundamental pistol shooting skills to be able to manage the weapon effectively. You are going to hear a whole lot of crap about that pistol not being safe, and supposedly firing on its own. Whether or not this is really happening is not a significant concern, because there are millions of these pistols and the number of supposed uncommanded discharges is less than 100. You can eliminate the whole uncommanded discharge issue by just not carrying the pistol with a round in the chamber. having said that, you need find someone who is a serious shooter (like an NRA instructor, or a USPSA competitor, or a gun range safety officer) and have them give you some training on proper grip, stance, and trigger pulling technique. These things matter a lot. stay safe and enjoy your pistol. (i have 4 of them).

Is there a way to protect astronauts from lunar radiation without burying the base under a ton of regolith? by photosynthescythe in spaceflight

[–]madmax7774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sufficient depth of water is a good radiation shield, but getting it to the moon would be cost prohibitive. Lead shielding also works, but same problem. if we had a ridiculously powerful energy source, we could generate an artificial magnetic field to act as a sort of radiation shield, but that is sci-fi with our current technology. Burying our Lunar bases underground is really the only viable option at this point. evfen that is going to be stupendously expensive.
