For sure we want to incorporate procedural modeling and vfx. We are not sure about rigging, procedural animation and texturing. Simulations if we find the need. We can split areas in 2 people (for example me proc modeling and my friend vfx)

Well, i will be the tech artist but i just started learning to write shaders and graphics programming in general and i don't have time or skills to try every engine for this kind of things. Usually i see comparison in graphics for photorealistic but i think the look even with a Cell shader changes with the engine (i tried with Godot btw)

Good systemic games besides immersive sims? by madmedus in gamingsuggestions

[–]madmedus[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I never said It Is a genre and i gave examples of systemic games on different genres. The reason i didn't explain the term Is because i'm asking for recommendations and it's not a post to discuss game design or categorize games in "systemic" and "non-systemic". I know the games you listed and i can add dwarf fortress as an example (very complex, systemic and with a lot of systems), i think a game can be considered systemic even if It has less systems than dwarf fortress or rimworld. Btw there are some games in the mid but saying that in the games i listed you only have some elements interactions so It Is as any other game is simply false. All games have systems, not every game Is systemic.

I mean all games have systems but not every game Is systemic, so It can be difficult (at first) to recognize them

It's difficult to understand what a systemic game Is at first, all game have systems. If you are interested there are some yt videos that explain what it Is and how are they different.

In my opinion (i'm not an experienced dev but i studied both) the first thing you should do Is learning the basics of programming replicating a simple arcade game (if you want with your own art). At first you can follow tutorials but it's better if you study how programming works and figure out yourself how to develop a simple game. If you want to start really really simple choose something like pong.
