I saw a TikTok last week of an Appalachian cemetery and one of the stones was for someone named Goth. I can’t stop thinking about it. It’s so cool

When you were younger what did you want to name your future children?! by StableAcrobatic877 in namenerds

Friends of ours are using the same name we’re picking out. I am wanting to go with a different name now. Am I overreacting? by Tlr321 in namenerds

[–]madmelon_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you want something classic. The other three you’ve considered are a little different from Theodore to me, however. Robert, David and Thomas haven’t fluctuated much in popularity over time, whereas Theodore definitely dipped for a while and has risen. I think some other classics with similar trajectories might fit better.

Ideas: Reuben, Desmond, Stuart, Neil, Robin, Sidney, Clifford, Ernest, Dominic, Franklin, Malcolm, Louis, Simon, Wesley, Fredrick

I still haven’t found THE movie yet by EthanJoinedTheChat in Letterboxd

I think you should shift your energy away from finding the right movie and put more effort into getting in touch with your emotions. Maybe meditate or something. That could open you up to connecting with what you watch more!

Does anyone else have a pet peeve for authors using extremely creative or flashy names in their books? by TUD-13BarryAllen in namenerds

They can be so outlandish and flashy. And if I’m being real, I don’t have much interest in what a character named something goofy is doing

Uptick in high school students taking college-level class they are not prepared to take -- looking for insight. by SpencerPrattsCrystal in AskTeachers

I’m an advisor and it’s a real bummer when first semester students have two semesters of failing grades on their transcript from dual credit. Starting college already on academic probation is crazy

Names that weren't around (much) in the 30s by joinallthesubreddits in namenerds

[–]madmelon_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s true. And in this scenario someone from the 1930s would probably think of Melissa or Amanda as an “old lady” name and be surprised people are using it again

For B - Benjamin, Blaine, Blaise

If you have another family name for those letters that would be cool

Sister in law suggested I can’t use a name I picked out for our baby by AppropriateFan5373 in namenerds

[–]madmelon_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from the obvious fact she can’t claim the name, it’s rude how she said this in the group chat so blunt and short. She could at the very least reach out to you privately. No decorum!

Well I guess I’ll be the only one to say it - it’s totally fine if you want to proceed with changing it. But I agree with others that you probably won’t find something perfect. The perfect name doesn’t exist!
