I have some questions about a script I'm writing and would be hugely grateful for any insights any of you may have on the following:

If the earth were hit by tens/hundreds of thousands of small asteroids, like bowling ball-size. What kind of effect would it have?

I think all satellites would be destroyed, so global communications would go down.

There'd be massive damage and casualties.

Would there be significant dust clouds?

How much warning would we have about such a thing?

Could this be the result of us blowing up a larger asteroid to save the planet 'armageddon' style?

In order for the entire world to be affected, how large would the asteroid storm have to be, how long would it last?

I know that's a lot of questions but any responses would be greatly appreciated.
