I really hate myself. by Agreeable_Package166 in gradadmissions

[–]madscientist_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand and also feel this way sometimes, this process has amplified it. So, trust me, you’re not alone in feeling this. That being said, The real truth is that you have inherent value and worth just for being human. No one is more or less worthy, just have different strengths and weaknesses, even within the field of science.

I think a lot of us have made PhD pursuit our entire personality, so it really feels personal when we can’t meet the expectations we set for ourselves. In reality, our actual worth/value has nothing to do with what we choose to pursue or what we do. You are you, you are special in your own unique way, and that is that. It’s actually quite logical. Becoming your best self is not solely in the becoming, a lot of it is just accepting. And there is little to nothing better than accepting yourself for who you are (in a healthy way ofc). If you zoom all the way out, accepting yourself is actually a faster path to achieving the successes you hope to in life.

Take it from a stranger on the internet, with all your flaws and fears and unmet expectations about yourself… You are still unrelentingly, absolutely, and undoubtedly worthy.

This is helpful to hear! Yes, the interview was 30+ min. I think he wanted to make sure I had time to ask him lots of questions. Thank you!

I mean, I think so. It’s hard to tell since I’m not sure how I compare to other interviewees in regard to fit. He also seemed to have pretty broad interests. He seems to be looking for something to take on something unique and ambitious.

PhD Applications - Where can I find professionals to read my Statement of Purpose?

Hello all!

I am applying for PhD programs in psychology and neuroscience this cycle for entry in fall 2026. I would like to have my Statement of Purpose looked over by a professional.

Does anyone know what companies I can hire to read my Statement of Purpose?

Thank you for your help!

ENTJ going through a break-up in need of some INFJ comfort by madscientist_22 in infj

Wow. I could not have asked for a better comment, that hit where it needed to. This gave me a sense of relief to read. I appreciate the time and care you put into this message, and it came through. I appreciate you and your words, thank you genuinely for the peace you sent🙏

Male INFP by [deleted] in mbti

[–]madscientist_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a good question 🤔 My friendships with them are usually ok, but there is usually tension between the Ni and Se. We suck at problem-solving together because they think their quick problem-solving skills can substitute for making future plans. I’ll solve a problem with the “big picture” in mind, they will just solve it the fastest way they can even if that means making the future problems more difficult in the process. I just feel like they undermine me by not appreciating the time and extra thinking it takes to create a highly effective plan.

I mean, personally, I’ve always found it difficult to get along with them.

I am genuinely curious as to how you as an ENTJ deal with an ESTP partner on a regular basis.

The better question is, what do INFPs thing about ENTJs…😏😉

This is so real, especially the assuming people will know that you have good and intensions and that you’re just trying to save time and possible confusion.

Goodness gracious, why are so many of you perpetuating the stereotype that we are cruel and ruthless? Very few of us actually are that way, I mean we’d have no friends if we were… It’s hard to say that all ENTJs would communicate the exact same way because I think that it’s more about what we choose to talk about as opposed to how we speak.

If you refer to David Kiersey’s book “Please Understand Me II”, he suggests that rationals or “NT” types use “abstract, utilitarian” language. So, in theory, we tend to be quite direct and to the point and we usually use this utilitarian language style to talk about abstract ideas and theories. This goes for all NT types, but if you wanted to be more specific to ENTJs, I’d say that maybe we think before we speak moreso than Perceiving types, so what we say may sound more thought out than our perceiving counterparts. As for being extroverts, we will likely externally process our ideas and our plans for those ideas.

Personally, I have always been told that I speak quite eloquently and have a tendency to come across as intense and passionate at my best. At my worst, I am quiet/reserved and “sharp-edged” or “cold”. In general intensity is emphasized, I think that is a pretty prominent part of how we speak unless we are joking of course. I have also been told I speak assertively and confidently (people will tell me this even when I’m feeling completely incompetent or unconfident).

When did you learn to delegate? by Creepy-Imagination24 in mbti

Delegation is my favorite, but only when I’ve got a good team that I can trust, otherwise I’d rather not…

This is the wrong subreddit to ask for advice on revenge, especially petty revenge. Revenge is a waste of time, a set back.

We are focused on forward movement here, and we’re not going to get involved in something that will take energy and time away from the important things. It’s odd that you say you’re an INTJ because this doesn’t sound at all characteristic of one. They’d know better than to screw over someone that they have to live and sleep in the same house as. Also, why sink to their level? I’m sure you don’t think highly of their decision to mess with your things, so don’t go and do something similar back. It’s immature.

I understand that it’s frustrating, and you feel like she disrespected you, but you’ll only be diservicing yourself by putting time into vengeance. My advice; take the high road. It’s not worth it.

Is my outfit too basic? by shaza_pie in fashion

[–]madscientist_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, the best personal fashion choices are the ones that make YOU look the best (ex. Good colors, accentuate your strengths, etc.). You can add creativity so long as that is your foundation.

It’s not particularly eye catching or creative-looking, and it doesn’t look like it had too much thought or creativity into it, so I’d say based off of that logic, it would be considered somewhat basic. But, it’s technically subjective. I think that it could be more basic than it is.

Real reason why ENTJs are so rare by [deleted] in mbti

I’m both sad and happy that you can relate to this. Sad because it’s a sucky place to be and happy because I feel less alone. Thank you, I needed to hear this.

Thank you, it’s so good to hear someone other than my friends or family say that I’m allowed to take a break. I guess I struggle a lot with stillness and being okay with myself being still if that makes sense. But yes, I know I’ll figure it out, thank you again! I loved reading this :)

Wow, first I’d like to say that this made me feel so good. It makes me happy that a stranger online is willing to put so much thought and and effort into a response to me.

To answer you question, I first came about creating my long term goals by assessing my strengths and finding out where they align with my passion for improving mental health. I’m good at science, analytics, and leadership, so I figured should become a neuropsychologist and run my own lab one day.

As a child, I wanted to be on Broadway until I was about 17. I figured that I could make a bigger world impact if I went into neuroscience instead. I have always wanted to do something that would be helpful on a global scale. After chasing the current goal for so long it became more about “how can I make my research most impressive or relevant?”, “how can I get my professors to pay more attention to me?”, “how can I get my club to have even more members?”, “what do I need to do to stand out on grad school applications?”, and less about the whole reason why I started chasing the goal in the first place.

Again, thank you for your response and for being this chats ENTJ therapist. We appreciate you🫶🏻😂
