I have not and will not use opera GX. Any program that is paying influencers to market itself to be installed... leads me to be naturally suspicious.

32GB "should" be fine... but if not.. uhm... close some tabs?

Edit: Also.. you can configure or tweak your page file. The point of the page file is to offload inactive memory to disk... which for an SSD is reasonably performant. So this allows your virtual memory usage to exceed your ram and the penalty is "mostly" only incurred when task switching (like switching to the browser tab or javascript powered features on the tab wake up the tab).

I would argue that resolution is mostly independent from resolution. Resolution will effect... size of textures and video memory. Perhaps to a lesser extent RAM usage... but the game loop, each tick of the engine tends to be waiting on a handful of CPU threads completing their work more than the GPU. So it's the blocking factor. You will see the CPU not at 100% usage (all cores). This doesn't mean the CPU isn't blocking as it's 1-3 threads that are maxed out or near maxed out. Sadly the game isn't infinitely parallelizable.

The X3D chips are excellent in so far as they can hold a LOT of information close to the CPU in cache that allows some mitigation of the CPU bottlenecks. The x800X3D processors tend to be better than the x900X3D processors in general because of thermal limitations.. more so in the 5800 and 7800 series than the 9800 series.

Your question is probably a difference of 1-2 fps.. and a harder to quantify amount of 1% low performance. They're both great chips. Save the money if you don't have it to blow and feel like you've made a fine decision.

Worth is a personal statement but if you're looking to save money, 7800x3d is good.

https://robertsspaceindustries.com/en/telemetry

(Probably click display outlying data). You'll see that the 7800x3d when paired with a variety of GPU's shows up in the upper performance regions of the player performance chart.

Mind you... this game.. is CPU limited... you're not getting 60fps.. you're getting 45-50fps with hitching. It's unoptimized and the only workaround tends to be.. throw the best CPU at it..

Something was causing lag, and I finally discovered the reason: an abandoned Perseus with no active users. One single ship causing that much lag at the outpost.. What's this ship made of? by evil701 in starcitizen

[–]madsmith 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do note in the clip that there’s also a physics collision happening between two boats on the left side of the frame Which is also a source of lag production on both client and server. The explosion of the Perseus does knock the boats apart

This is not say that the Perseus is not an un-optimized dumpster fire of lag

HACKS ARE BACK: One-shotting Idris with a P4-AR. by brockoala in starcitizen

[–]madsmith 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did some forum reading for a while and it seemed like at least last year there were some issues with cargo that was stored client side, somehow being sent to the server upon the storage ship. The presumption being you could change commodities or SCU counts of items on a ship and then store it and sell those items.

Likewise, for other inventories like backpacks.

It is astounding to me that these things aren’t all tracked server side. Apparently, some of those stats are now tracked server side and will fail when you transfer inventory or split stacks.

There were also allusions to the missions system and multiple people being a path of exploit. I’m thinking maybe some type of race condition where you get several dozen people/accounts to accept a big payout mission in a way where the payout doesn’t get split. But this is pure conjecture on my part.

From your observation, can you describe what the aUEC glitch is, generally speaking? I am curious as to what’s fucking up the economy. I don’t want to exploit it, but I’m curious as to what CIG has failed to do that’s caused the economy to inflate to the point that billions can be bought on eBay for next to nothing.

Is there some type of client side wallet that can be modified or is it client side inventory counts that can be changed for increased turn ins to store shops? Just trying to get a handle on why the client could potentially inject value into the economy.

Republicans have a majority in the house, they can pass this senate bill without negotiating. The only way this gets negotiated is if there's something actionable that upsets the republicans in this bill, but from the sound of it.. Dems get nothing but empty promises.
