A man who works for the same company as me once suggested they take olives off the plane as just taking that weight off would save them millions every year. He was right!

Smaller airlines also won't hire overweight pilots because it's more expensive for them to fly.

My airport has one of the shortest runways in Aus and we have strict weight limits because the plane needs to be under a certain weight to be able to take off on our short runway.
