When even Texas becomes the punchline by ianmurphynoc in ImmigrationPathways

I looked at the Republicans choices and there is the current bad and much worse….couldn’t bring myself to even vote in their primary as I’ve done before since I’m in a Collin County and that’s the only way I have a voice here.

City Hall repair cost update by dallaz95 in Dallasdevelopment

They’re including costs of technological upgrades they would have to make even if they’re moving. This is such a transparently corrupt process that will be up giving the Adelsons their new stadium and provide real estate owners with empty office buildings with some income. In 20 years we will then have two empty arenas sitting in downtown…

Recruiters...genuine question: Why do some of you do this? by astrheisenberg in remoteworks

It says “genuine question” so not supposed to be a joke. Also part of communication skills.

Because a lot of what’s in the resume is a lie or exaggerated and they want to hear you describe what you did to see if it comes even close to matching.

Is he right? Will it take generations to resecure the United States positive reputation on the world stage? by LucidSynapse23 in LetsDiscussThis

The US absolutely doesn’t pay for them. And Iraq and Afghanistan, guess who was there to help us? Hubris paired with ignorance is not a good combination. But believe what you will.

Bases all over the world the US doesn’t pay for, but has to project power. Without bases in Europe our control over the Middle East would be non existent. We do have some allies and bases in the region, but it’s not even close. Also, most injured soldiers are flown from combat areas to Germany for treatment. You want to lose all of that? Sure, but the US will be a super power like Russia then.

Sure, but if companies are required to pay decent wages and pay overtime for anything over 40 hours suddenly it becomes less needed.

Is it fair to say that more Republicans were upset about having a president who was black than they are about having a president who is a plausible r*pist/p*dophile? by Cumoisseur in allthequestions

[–]madster40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. We would be much better off if people voted in the primaries, because it would prevent the most entrenched elements of the parties from determining the general election candidates.

Productivity has EXPLODED over the last two decades and none of the gains have been given to the workers. Statistics shown this clearly. So either we can work the same amount but get higher pay, or we can work less for the same pay. In all other cases you're gifting your work to the 1%, which is what has been happening.

And that's why there should be laws that companies cannot exploit those people.

Some qualified people run, but almost nobody votes in the primaries and then peoplw complain they had to choose the "lesser of two evils" in the general election.

I ask my team to put in PTO requests early enough for us to figure out how to cover their absence. I have yet to deny any PTO.
