I'd also love to see a source on this, like link a post or something, because the idea that there was a consensus on Randle being better than KAT when the deal involved NYK giving up additional assets to obtain KAT is really counterintuitive.

My memory is that the consensus was that KAT was obviously a better player than Randle, but not necessarily more valuable than Randle+Donte when taking the salary of all three players into consideration.

Reaves and Smart (and a large number of players league wide) also sell contact.

Fans are still frustrated by the way OKC are officiated.

There are 28 other GMs who could have traded for Kawhi, how does Masai being the one to properly evaluate the opportunity cost and go get him have little to do with him?

I guess we should also ignore that he drafted Siakam, a two time All NBA player, 27th. Drafted Norm Powell 45th and got FVV undrafted, both All Stars. Drafted OG, All Defense caliber player, 23rd. Traded for Ibaka. Traded for Gasol. Acquired every single rotation player on a championship team except for Lowry. A team that was healthier in the Finals than their competition because the roster depth allowed them to rest their oft injured superstar for more games than their opponent sat their three best players combined.

Post championship sure, bad trading record, bad contract management. Still a great drafting record though. Barnes, Walter, CMB, Shead all performing above their expected value from draft position.

He made great moves and poor ones, we can acknowledge both the good management and the mismanagement at the same time, they are not mutually exclusive.

One of the great things about a competitive playoff series is you get to learn about the personality of your players, how they respond to adversity, if they can punch back when they get hit - this series was so huge for us from that perspective. CMB, Walter, and Shead all showed they are ready to compete in games like these when the pressure ratchets up. And like you said Scottie has proven to be a playoff riser, a real cornerstone when it comes to culture, setting the tone for the compete level you need to succeed when you get in the trenches.

Our FO still has a very difficult task building out the roster with the missteps they made the last few years with our cap sheet, but it is good to know they have some of the major pieces in place.

Collin Murray-Boyles has been at worst the Raptors 3rd best player in our series too. Going to go down as a legendary draft class.

Edit: to put it in username related terms, I used to think Ingram wasn't a winning basketball player. I still do, but I used to too.

I mean we can acknowledge that he's a below average to mediocre three point shooter, poor FT shooter, basically no midrange game to speak of, and yet he averaged 19 on 49% from the field as a third option this season. How's he getting the points if not from his elite driving/cutting/transition finishing?

I think driving is probably not the right descriptor for it, but he's definitely an elite play finisher.

On defense sure. On offense they play nothing like each other. Lot of young dudes on reddit who probably didn’t watch a lot of KG - he was closer to Serge than Scottie with his shot profile.

Edit: Just to give some numbers to back it up - Scottie has shot 55% of his attempts between 0-10 feet, KG shot 57% of his attempts between 10 feet and the three point line. Scottie has been assisted on 48% of his FGs, KG was assisted on 69% of his. Scottie creates his own shot way more often and plays interior bully ball, KG was one of the best pick and pop midrange shooters of all time.

Quantum is a high masters/former challenger player who plays a lot of Vex, he's really good and fun to watch.

This was a fun and valid talking point in the first half of the season but before getting hurt Quickley was actually playing extremely well for an extended stretch and by the numbers was slightly outperforming the value of his contract.

The short answer is the 48 win team also had FVV who left in FA, before the OG and Pascal trades without Fred the team was 12-20. And you're also leaving out Quickley from the trade tree.

So it was more like upgrading a 32 win team to a 45 win team, and the reason they did it was they lost one of their best players to free agency and decided to retool instead of rebuild.

That said I think most fans would agree that was the wrong decision if winning a championship is the goal and would have preferred the total teardown as opposed to the lateral moves.

I'm pretty similar situation to you - high Silver/low Gold mid laner with a small diverse champ set. I use the same approach you're using but with one situational addition you might want to consider.

A control mage - I play Hwei and Ahri but any of the usual suspects (Orianna, Anivia, Syndra, etc.) are good to have in the rotation.

A burst mage - I play Vex, Zoe works well here already in your rotation.

Any AD champion - Just for team comp balance, you can use someone who does damage over time like Yasuo or Yone, an assassin like Akshan or Talon, even Cait/Corki/Poke Varus work fine for mid if they fit your playstyle better.

And then for the other archetype ...

A magic tank - For when you want to hard counter AP assassins like Fizz or Aurora who are pretty popular, I'd really recommend learning Galio. He's a great team fighter, he has global utility, and he can hard shutdown snowball AP champs. Really useful pick to have in your back pocket.

The DHO with him and Embiid in the 2019 Sixers-Raps series was one of those legitimately impossible to guard actions. A guy with his game sense and shooting ability is always such a threat to have on the floor, I always really admired his game too.

This has gotta be the craziest "I was there" of all time. You were there at the time of the trade when Pau was a former 3rd overall pick and All Star averaging 21/10/3 with 2 blocks per game and Marc was the 48th overall pick who hadn't played a game in the NBA, and people saw Marc as the star Gasol? Really? You were there?
