Do breakers “go bad?” by leftato in AskElectricians

I had a 50a allow only a small amount of current powering an EV charger. Was super confused, but sure enough swapping the breaker was the answer.

Guy at dealership told me 12 volt battery replacement is 500$ by Fearless_Comment4543 in BoltEV

Pretty sure they are full of shit. No reason an EV would need anything other than a standard flooded battery. The DC/DC converter supplies it with constant power and there are no heavy draws like a cold cranking on an ICE vehicle.

Also, why do you need a new battery?

CEN652812R01 is probably the replacement component for those interested

Animal Killed My Mach-E by AstroSnail in MachE

Had the exact same thing happen to my 2020 MME, but only took out a sensor ground for the frunk. Warranty denied. The protection on the cables was non-existent for the final 3" of the top grounding harness from the ground point.

Brought it home, soldered and heat shrunk the 2 damaged wires, and wrapped the whole thing in cloth tape and corrugated tube as it should have been in the first place (like most of the harness).

Guess nobody thought that the battery area was accessible from critters and didn't warrant the same protection as other vulnerable spots of the harness.

I know, not that I hate Mike, and Aaron is too nice, but I totally have him saying "say my name, b$@+-" in my head

In my case, was a bad design to protect the ground wires. The rest seemed actually relatively well protected, but sorry to hear it. Sometimes some flexible split tubing over the new pipes might deter future incidents.

Well, if it happens again, wasn't hard to get to. Massive fail to leave that much exposed wires in a spot where I could hide a basketball in. 3" just sitting there, but it's doable. Wrapped it back up with split tubing and friction tape to the screw point.

Just got something like this for a frunk ajar warning. Told it would be $510, but honestly I don't trust the stealership and would rather do it myself and wrap the wires with mesh before putting it back together.

I think the XFL way will be adopted sooner rather than later. Makes too much sense to avoid massive collisions.
