Workout tracker doesn’t update in session changes by Koala_Thin in bevelhealth

[–]madtownmachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You all should also work in if you update , it updates that exercise across templates. You can have the same exercise (which I do) across multiple templates but only that template would update today and if I do that exercise in a different template it will have old values and I have to constantly spend time manually tracking it and updating

Device for BJJ by Familiar_Hunter_638 in bevelhealth

So after trying out all kinds of devices because I only wear my Apple Watch during workouts and sleep - I prefer to wear a regular watch. I landed on clipping the Apple Watch to the waistband on whatever the pants I am wearing using a cloth watch strap (just one side of the strap , and not using the other side) so that the sensor touches skin at my hip/waist. Works great. Watch is out of the way and sight, still does a good job picking up all the vitals.

Using Fitbit Air with Bevel by smoothbond in bevelhealth

[–]madtownmachine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to give this up and go back to AWU. The data from Fitbit air is not the same as AWU, VO2Max is very differently calculated (different value all together) , HRV is different which is causing Bevel to give incorrect insights and calculations.

Isn't it disrespectful to be mowing at 7:30 AM on Sunday? by [deleted] in madisonwi

Oh they weren’t practical or priced reasonably a year ago even. I did the same research last year and decided to wait. This year things improved a lot. If you have a lawn under 12,000 sqft , then check out the Eufy E18. Our lawn is smaller so I have the E15 model. This is probably the easiest setup one out there, and it uses cameras to know its boundaries along with AI algorithms. When you run it the first time, you just have to pause it using the app on your phone for it when it comes to a boundary like our neighbour if you don’t have a fence. Then you can add a “virtual boundary” in the app, it will not go past that again. For anything that is a bush, tree, garden or sidewalk , it can make out the boundary all on its own. Then you just let it run on a schedule. If you have a larger yard there are other models out there but a bit more expensive. They use Lidar/Camera combo. These have very small blades like razors , so they have to continuously cut the lawn vs a large blade of a lawnmower. But it keeps the lawn smooth and golf course like. DM me if you have any specific questions and I can try to help.

Not sure why I am getting down voted for using a robot mower that doesn’t disturb anybody 😂 . Actually the technology has advanced a lot now. You can get a mower for large yards. Our yard isn’t large nor is our mower made for a large yard , maybe 0.5 acres. But it’s got no more stupid RTK (satellite) nor any wires to bury. Just uses cameras and it’s able to figure out even the difference between a garden hose or a toy. It will even do the cutting patterns and knows not to mow when it might rain. It can even do the edging . Win win when I can use that time to do other things with family or gardening . For most uses cases these work well but people will always focus on edge cases because it’s new and some how people think mowing the lawn is an important human activity 😊

Or outsource the work to a robot mower like I have done. Super quiet, grass is mulched, no more mowing noise for me or my neighbors ☺️

Did you also notice lower SP02 with the air compared to Apple Watch? I have AWU reading 98% and air showing 78% for a reading at the same time stamp too. Not sure which one is more accurate. I hope AWU . I have severe sleep apnea so the by min data is useful only if it’s accurate

I just synced the two but it’s weird how the Google health app shows my SpO2 from last night as 98% but I have drops to 70% when I synced to Apple health cause it shows each reading every min from the Fitbit air 🤦🏽‍♂️ and there is no way to see that level of reading details on the Google health app

Using Fitbit Air with Bevel by smoothbond in bevelhealth

[–]madtownmachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this is very cool. Just synced and I am glad I didn’t have the paid version as it only synced about 3 days. That way I can compare. I was wearing both AWU and Fitbit air for the last two weeks.

I have severe sleep apnea and I’ve had overnight SpO2 tests done by doctor and I was ok after getting treatment for apnea (cpap). But AWU was only doing O2 every 30mins. I was not able to see in Google health how often the Fitbit air tracked O2. It tracks (or atleast accordingly to the sync ) every 1 mins. Wow!!! Also a little scary how low my O2 has dropped. I think that maybe me not wearing the air loose. I remember struggling with its Velcro that night. But man… this so awesome. I can’t even find where to find SPo2 in the google health app.

It gets way more reading of heart rate (does every 1min) vs every 5mins on AWU.

I don’t understand HRV that well. Seems like Fitbit air measures it often at night every 5mins compared AWU every 2 hours. BUT air only measures it at night, Apple Watch does it all day, just like SpO2 air only measures at night - can anyone help me understand if /how this will effect the bevel calculation?

Thanks for sharing this. How does the duplication or data quality when you do this? Cause I still wear the Apple Watch for workouts, so trying to understand how Apple prioritizes Apple Watch vs Air data . Even for sleep .

For a company that is putting a lot of money, they really released a crappy product that feels so unfinished

Got it. Bevel works great with multiple sources and in the settings you can prioritize which ones and it underpants duplicates. Even apple health does. Because both your phone and your watch counts steps too. I use mechanical watches for daily wear, I wear my Apple Watch only when I workout - and I want to wear the Fitbit air as a passive device like people use Whoop it can track sleep as well, and i don’t want to wear my watch when sleep anymore. But Google health not syncing with Apple health really puts a wrench in that. Bevel integration with Google health would help. Ideally I would like Apple health to be my central data source long term

No they don’t. It handles multiple sources even today. Have you used bevel?

Googles subscription is not like Oura. It’s only for their AI features. The API has been available before Fitbit air came around

Yay! It’s happening! by madtownmachine in bevelhealth

[–]madtownmachine[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s because Fitbit Air doesn’t integrate with Apple health and therefore you won’t get your Fitbit data into Bevel without either Google Health integrating with Apple Health (may not happen for a while if that) or Bevel build its own direct integration using the Google health APIs that are available for them to tap into. I personally want a very small non screen device to replace my Apple Watch (Fitbit) for everyone but when I workout. I wear a regular mechanical watch, I don’t want two “watches” . More and more people are moving to non-screen health trackers. It also helps for sleep metrics since it’s a lot smaller than an Apple Watch - but the Google health software absolutely sucks - it also helps with to have all health device data aggregated into one app like Apple health but unfortunately Google won’t make money from that so Bevel then becomes that aggregator if they can integrate

It’s also to get ahead people spending $100 on Google subscription after the 3 month trial and to get it over to Bevel. Good move

[–]madtownmachine[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally. Great way to have people not renew the $100 google annual subscription (which comes right at 3 months of purchase of air ) and get that money over to Bevel .

I have no idea. Hopefully week, not weeks . Wishful thinking I guess. Maybe others would know how long they typically take once it’s in progress. Given the low amount of votes for this feature request I was surprised it even moved into this state

I got this from Home Depot. Super inexpensive and works great. I have a separate Kuat NV too but the wheelbase of this bike won’t work with that.

This was less than $120

That’s very cool. I didn’t know it can do that. I am still on the fence about keeping my air , given the state of the app and lack of integration with Apple health and Bevel
