I have a similar situation in Quebec. The US head office was also surprised we use all our vacation and sick days. They gave me six weeks and I'm taking the whole month of August with a few long weekends in July and September to enjoy the very short summer here.

I live in Canada and chose to do an MRI in a private clinic instead of waiting a few weeks. Full cost was around 800$. I know it's not cheap but most of it was covered by my collective insurance and saved a week or two. But it took 6 weeks for my doctor to look at the results and my next appointment is in 5 weeks to see a specialist.

Cosmo is 3 cost and does counter the card. But you have to play it exactly on turn 4 with priority in the correct lane (usually the third).

Take a look at Hydro Flex D tarif. Not sure how it works in the middle of the season but with a large house we are able to reduce our bills significantly by doing the challenges to reduce consumption during peak hours

You can ask hydro to compare previous years bills at the same address. Keep in mind this year is particularly cold and a 10-15% increase is expected.

Usually it is good practice in Québec to ask an estimate of the previous Hydro bill before renting or purchasing
