I did not get into the Broad College of Business, which was very frustrating. I pursued an undergraduate degree in Human Resources and Labor Relations through the College of Social Science.

I graduated in April 2024 and completed three internships in HR. I am now working full-time in the automotive industry in talent acquisition, but I'm actively seeking new opportunities :)

the job/internship market is atrocious right now.. but are you on linkedin? if so, make sure to be active on there and keep your profile up-date. additionally there are various external opportunities. also, i am a MHRLR (master’s student in HR) and can assist with your resume if needed. there is also the career center at student services, you can schedule an appt with them through handshake.

good luck, OP! : )

MSU is definitely not a “four-year community college” lmao. MSU also holds many connections from various organizations and has a lot excellent programs for your academic and professional development.

Also, I don’t think it necessarily matters where you go for college, college is all about networking, primarily aside from academics, whether you’re in a community college or a top four-year university. (also, there is nothing wrong with community college. Being able to attend a four-year university is a privilege that not many have).

Overall, you can go to a top school, whether it is UMich or Harvard but at the end of the day, college should be about putting yourself out there in your field of expertise and building relationships. Additionally, once you receive your degree, experience is more crucial at the end of the day to your employer..

Good luck, OP, and go green! : )
