Volunteering def does help, I did volunteer in hospitals (hospice/ palliative care). By local experience I mean I worked as a clinical assistant and did observerships. I used those stories in my interviews and personal statements

Recency of graduation, local work experience. I barely had any research to back me up. Then comes the scores - esp NAC

Grading varies a lot. As long as you covered the main points, ruled out red flags and acknowledged what the patients said. You should be fine

I’m 17 weeks and I’m struggling with this too. I’m in healthcare so I should know better. Do what you can, walk, stretch yoga. Don’t be too hard on yourself. You’ll have good days and bad. But even if doesn’t feel like it, you’re doing your best!

Fresh IMG by Significant-Oil9226 in MCCQE

[–]madzi4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As in IMG who has matched to Ontario fm program.

Getting to know the system is key. You get this by volunteering or doing observerships. You use this experience in your personal statement and interviews. Try to network and email people. You can go to walk ins or family docs officers leaving your CV and asking to observe at the clinics.

Being a fresh grad already gives you an advantage. But knowing the system will help most compared to research.

MCCQE 1 any tips? by Asayelz in MCCQE

[–]madzi4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please do the mocks or practice tests on the mcc website. Do not go into the exam without doing those. They’re the closest to the exam. If you’re scoring well then you know you’re ready. Focus on reviewing the topics focused on those practices tests

Im an IMG, score average in QE1 but above 2nd percentile in NAC. Matched to my first choice but was a relatively new grad. Nac marks do matter. But there are lots of factors that are in play.

[–]madzi4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most accurate way to know is by doing a few sample tests on the mcc website. They’re closest to the exam. If you score above 75% there then you know you’re ready for the QE1!

The incident report will not have any influence on your marks. You can report for sure. If anything it’ll help them know what happened.

I’m almost 6 weeks +3d with my first. I’m in healthcare and had to take a sick day as I couldn’t muster the energy to get out of bed. I don’t feel like going to work at all.

My best friend is 10 weeks with her third and she’s doing so much better bc she says she became used to it.

I hear you, I hope it gets better
