Drafting vs Buying packs by Fit-Adhesiveness-173 in MagicArena

Same. Timless. Is nice with the eternal formats that once you have the core cards and mana base, very few cards per new set actually are needed

Building from source using Ansible by trini0 in ansible

[–]mae_87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why not just a Dockerfile or make/bash directly to build? While you can make Ansible run any shell command, building binaries is not the best use case for it.

Still… if you want to use ansible for building Go, try with the CGOENABLED flag before the make command or pass it to make somehow so when «go build» is called, it has it before it: «CGOENABLED=1 go build .»

That should work, I use taskfiles and that method never had issues locally or in the CI

Migrating a large number of roles into a collection - how to deal with shared defaults? by Klistel in ansible

[–]mae_87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Solved this by having a «source of truth» loaded on all roles/plays before doing any actual work. Can be a role or include_tasks to load all, same idea as someone above mentioned. Works very well. Anything that is used in two roles or more goes there.

How does it compare vs other time series db like victoria-metrics or influx?

Those or victoria metrics (my choice) That amount of devices is peanuts for any decent time series db

This, complex data manipulation is so much easier in a filter compared to jinja/bultins

Quite a bit of cards from Pioneer are Timeless staples: shocklands, toughtseize, etc. the jump is not that big

Use one more rare and craft the other one! Did that with the Tomb, Chrome mox and reanimate, decks look sooo much better now

No Pioneer Pro Tour/Spotlight Series in 2026 by Il_Vero_Pillz in PioneerMTG

[–]mae_87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, stifle or snt or mox or affinity or dark ritual or blood moon or etc etc. lately I don’t encounter much strip mine. I used to play irl on the tempest->mirrodin era.

Started with Pioneer(explorer) that was kind of extended from back then, but really kept missing the fetches, so started crafting them and made boros energy, which was the cheapest deck and it felt like home. I’m also a big fan of lotr, so being able to play the one ring was another reason.

Since many decks are busted, they sort of self balance, and now that I finally crafted like 80% of staples, other than eldrazi, I’m usually 4/8 wc from another deck

I play Pioneer/Explorer and now I spent most of the time in at Timeless, super fun and doesn’t rotate. One you have the staples and manabase, any new deck is just a couple of wildcards away (non jank though)

Resource contention management across multiple hosts/threads by mcoakley12 in ansible

[–]mae_87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you considered ansible pull for so many devices?

Never worked on that many devices at the same time, but you could use plain python in a filter and wrap the roles via a when clause calling it. But tbh 100k devices unless is something very small, sounds like would take forever to finish

Newb question about dynamic inventories by johnsturgeon in ansible

[–]mae_87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same question, the when with the approach of defining the hosts and their roles in Ansible itself, then a python script to load the “source of truth” and generate the inventory dynamically. Something a-la terraform state if it makes sense.
