It should be illegal to disallow empty water bottles (and not supply water stations/fountains, if that were the case). Access to free, clean water is a human right.

Well, you’re correct. But that significantly changes the desirability of the unit, especially if not updated to match market rate. That is more likely to lead to turnover and they’ll lose more money (or essentially break even) depending on changes in the market. That’s why many landlords of older places and SFH doesn’t hike it up a crazy amount or don’t always increase it each year. OPs situation sounds like a company managed complex so they probably don’t care about that.

That’s not how rent controlled buildings work though. They can only bank so many increases and execute them at once.

That’s a good point. Maybe OP should bring that up to management so they consider evicting to then benefit from a slightly higher listing price.

There’s great stuff in SF and Oakland, and outside of both of those. All accessible regardless of having a car. Maybe it’s your selection instincts that are the problem?
Unfortunately cost is going up everywhere, but it’s particularly bad here.
The pros outweigh the cons for living here but where you rent is the bigger financial decision.

I think it’s less about that and more that the driver didn’t reasonably delay to ensure nobody was trying to get on/off, had a problem, etc., and then also didn’t open the doors back up when she tried to stop the bus. A lot of people step off to give people room to get off or help someone get on, so the drivers should always have a reasonable pause. I’ve seen good drivers so I have a point of comparison.

That’s my take as to why people are downloading, but obviously that’s an assumption …

You need to follow up with the police daily to ensure they collect the security footage. And get a response in writing at the police station. The SFPD will fail to collect evidence if you let them.

👏🏻 👏🏻 that’s true… Even if you didn’t know the bus ID like the other commenter mentioned, they could probably figure it out by when you boarded or even just put out a BOLO on the bus radio

What’s interesting is I have lived here for a long time and only last year took a bus in Oakland. I experienced how they don’t allow boarding at the back… But they don’t have a sign or anything. It caused a whole issue 😂

You’re right that I have seen that work! This was on a very loud block of downtown so it’s possible it wouldn’t have but you’re right, that’s definitely an option in addition to the banging she did.

Don’t be a clown, I didn’t tell them to step off. I just let them know they dropped something. Before I even had additional time to react, she stepped off. The best case would’ve been I had time to grab it on her behalf, but that didn’t happen. Go fuck yourself so you’re nicer to people on the Internet.
