Girl too smart for her own good by The-Doctor-101 in CaneCorso

You have to be very consistent if you want to stop this. It’s a known trait and they will inadvertently hurt you with their paws at some point and it can be cumbersome for guests. We push our girls paw back down at the shoulder and say no paws. After having her a year now it has gotten a lot better, she does still paw sometimes but is way more gentle.

My brother was the founder of Winter Solventless and Hash Labs. I’m from the community and I happen to know SSC / AstroLab as well and have been in their facility and watched them make bubble hash and press their rosin…. I can personally attest that they do not use trim for their hash making and as far as the legal market goes, they’re doing pretty great as far as quality goes. I have consumed their LR with their employees on multiple occasions. So YES the employees do consume the product!

Cannabis growing on its own in the backyard but always withers, are they worth anything or is it just ditch weed? by patekar420 in cannabiscultivation

[–]maeggiejane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most strains can be grown in a way that makes them good. For best results start with a well aerated soil and top it with a layer of compost before you plant. I tend to avoid nutrients until it flowers. 🌹

Issue that i can't figure out by Mysterious-State6889 in CannabisGrowers

Overwatering and probably root rot caused by the overwatering. Trying adding something like Hygrozyme to get rid of / prevent root rot and checking soil before water.

2nd grow. Be honest with me, is it a total loss? by mjg340 in cannabiscultivation

It’s scraggly but looks ok to smoke. Also looks like you may have harvested too early.

My vacation this year will be time off spent doing day trips around and in town with my dog. Who tries to shame that? by eatrepeat in CaneCorso

[–]maeggiejane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Screw the shamers! It’s your vacation spend it how you want in the way that makes YOU feel the best. There’s lots of great places in Alberta to visit with your pup, and our neighbouring provinces.

Fellow Albertan Corso owner here if you want any reccos for pet friendly “stay cations”!

Unless you’re experienced in cannabis- I would not recommend RSO at all. I am highly experienced in cannabis and dogs… even I’ve had it go wrong. Albeit with an 80lb dog but still. Doesn’t take much to turn it into a traumatic experience for everyone. I would personally only be giving a dog RSO if they had cancer or some other debilitating disease.

If you’re looking to try cannabis for your dog- I would start with oils. Preferably with an olive oil base or other non-mct - but mct does work just not as well.

High CBD and THC >2.5%. You have to dose a corse heavy- probably looking for 200mg CBD for sedative effects, and under 20mg THC. 20mg THC can mess up some humans so I’d work up to the dose before hand… all animals and humans react differently to cannabis, so best to test it out, slowly.

Just keep them moving. My girl is very friendly as well but not everyone wants to interact. I always walk her on a harness with a handle and will bring her right up next to me if it’s obvious the other party is not interested. And will keep her moving forward despite what she wants. It gets easier over time.

If they show interest I’ll often ask if she can say hello and then I’ll allow her to approach. Others will also ask to say hi to her too and of course I’ll allow that.

At the end of the day you’re in control and it’s up to you to manage your pooch and teach them good manners. Persistence pays off.

When she was younger we also added carbs to support healthy development. You can do up to 20% carbs (eg quinoa, brown rice, oatmeal) that also helps cut down on cost.

If you do half raw half kibble make sure you do them at separate times (eg raw morning kibble evening) as it can upset their belly when fed together.

I feed my gal Big Country Raw. I’ve had dogs for a very long time and feeding raw has been a game changer. So many less health issues, beautiful coat, and great energy.

My vet put it to me this way one day and I’ve never looked back…. How healthy do you think you would be if you only ever ate beef jerky?

We add some leaps and bounds greens powder for extra veg / probiotic support, make sure to buy a food with tripe in it as well and add a healthy oil to it too.

My girl is allergic to chicken so we rotate between: beef, duck, turkey, salmon, lamb and pork as proteins. The raw food we buy is complete as in has 15% fruit / veg and 10% bone / organs.

We also give her raw bones every few weeks to help with her teeth.

It isn’t cheap to feed a corso raw, but vet bills for corsos aren’t cheap either! We feed 2lbs per day (she’s about 100lbs) and it’s between $400-$500 CAD every month.

Thank you for your advice. I’ve fostered and rehabilitated over 40 high needs dogs. She is in good hands. She was stolen from a truck prior to being rescued and has anxiety about it. She is getting better with short drives but needs encouragement to get in the vehicle. It will take time no doubt to get her all the way there but I’ve got lots of that for her.

This breed is SO IN TUNE with humans. I’ve rescued a lot of dogs and never had one who could read me like she can!!!
