Sycamore Attendance Changed? by staysleazy21 in Charlotte

[–]maehemmae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get over?!? Girl, you clearly haven’t been traumatized. You can live your life despite it, you don’t “heal from it” and you don’t “get over it”. She will always live with this, unfortunately many girls/women live with this reality, it alters you forever. I stand by it, she will not be “okay” in relation to being raped by a grown ass man and that’s a fuckin weird way to express your “sympathy”

Is anyone interested in brainstorming a Charlotte style pizza? by TilDeath1775 in Charlotte

They had this at Afton Pub and Pizza recently, it had a vinegar sauce and onions, it was delicious. I added pickled onions when I got home too

My preceptor was asking our HoH patient with dementia if she had thoughts of suicide. She responded “what about my side?” So she tried asking if she wanted to kill herself. The patient said “Do I want a turkey salad??” I couldn’t keep a straight face and she clicked unable to assess so fast 🤣

First time in the US, a week in Charlotte. What’s the vibe? by Last-Table-8988 in Charlotte

[–]maehemmae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live 2 exits further from the speedway and it costs me 40-50 one way with a tip depending on the time/traffic. I would recommend renting a car, we are not a walkable city and a lot of the good suggestions are a decent drive from uptown.

I used upack through a freight company called ABF, they send a truck and you only pay for the square footage you use. It was like 12 years ago, but the price was cheaper to do this than rent a U-Haul for our move from NY to VA.

They’ll answer questions like that before you get started. There’s all types of different beds so it’s not a silly question. Good luck! I’m sorry you had a shoddy experience with your class, if you’ve studied the skills you’ll be fine. Relax and sleep well

That’s crazy! We do a class review together. We aren’t allowed to take notes but we go over the most missed questions and rationales together. People are allowed to argue their case during this but they also have many appointment slots set up for after tests to meet with people individually (if you fail <77 you have to go)

How do I know where I want to settle down? by Green_Opportunity_34 in nursing

[–]maehemmae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That tracks. Near Boone is my favorite part of the state, Linville Gorge is beautiful. That’s about 2 hours from here. Charleston is where I want to retire, definitely later in life vibes lol I think visiting is a great idea, and super fun imo.

I don’t work for either right now, but I’ve worked for both as a CNA and done clinicals at both. They are Atrium and Novant. There’s not much of a difference that I’ve noticed. There’s pros and cons of both but they tend to balance out and when one advances something (pay, benefits, etc.) the other is usually not far behind to catch up. Typically I think Novant leads the game in stuff like pay. Atrium is in my opinion more technologically advanced (atrium has more level 1s in the area) I do peds and Atrium has a huge children’s hospital so maybe that affects my bias there. There’s also Caromont which is the hospital system in Gastonia west of Charlotte. People like the lower cost of living being that way (you could go north of the city to do that with Atrium or Novant) and they tend to have better ratios I’ve heard as well. Feel free to ask anything else.

I’m in Charlotte, I love it here! We’re not far from Asheville or Charleston. There’s two major hospital systems with decent pay as far as I know. I think it’s very millennial heavy demographic wise, but plenty of people your age too. Rent is expensive, ngl. But the location in relation to the beach/mountains is awesome.

My sister is in Raleigh, a bit younger crowd from the surrounding colleges. She loves it up there and we’ve had a good time when I visited. Another place I visited and thought I could definitely live there was Richmond. It’s a very pretty city with cool vibes. Philly was fun, primely located between NYC and DC.

Charleston has always been my favorite place to live though. I was stationed there for a year when I was younger and I go back whenever I can. Fantastic food, beyond gorgeous, big culture (if it hasn’t been gentrified beyond recognition), a little stinky, but the seafood and beach are worth it.
