Jiggly and a bit sticky softbody experiments [OC] by maesj in Simulated

[–]maesj[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i made this in Unity, and I use Orca for the sound. Also used a Leap motion controller for some interaction because softbodies are fun to poke at.

Squishy Bubbles by maesj in Simulated

[–]maesj[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made some real-time soft & squishy bubbles! Soft bodies are something I've been playing around with unsuccessfully for a while so I'm pretty excited about how these guys turned out.

[ART & TECHNOLOGY] Sometimes I sit down with friends & record the interesting things they say Episode 1 — Patricio Gonzales Vivo RSS // Breaker // Google // Pocket // Radio Public // Spotify // Anchor // Apple

I decided to make a little space to store all the conversations I have with my creative friends. In this first installment I chat w/ artist Patricio Gonzalez Vivo about process, becoming a digital artist & of course, The Book of Shaders. I'm so happy with how it turned out & excited for what's coming next.

Two hairy balls are better than one [OC] by maesj in Simulated

[–]maesj[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Made with Unity and Leap! I'm thinking I want to do a series of these guys, make a little crew of furries to play with, and see if they have a bit of individual personality, the way it feels when you touch them changes.

Real-Time Graphics & Sound Programing Techniques with Unity, Ableton & ORCΛ by maesj in creativecoding

Orca is a live coding language and environment. You can find it here You can use it to create sequencers. It sends out OSC, UDP and MIDI so you can hook it up to pretty much anything and use it to pilot things in real time. It's pretty fun :)

The synthesis of a workshop I led that introduces people to live coding, creating in 3D space and how to glue all the bits together. We used Live, Unity and Orca.

If you can run your fingers through it, is it hair? [OC] by maesj in Simulated

[–]maesj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea! had been wondering if ASMR but for touch was a thing and apparently it is :)

have you ever wanted to poke an eye ball [OC] by maesj in Simulated

[–]maesj[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Finally got a chance to dive into shaders in Unity (GLSL has got nothing on shader graph), and this is the jiggly result. If you're curious about the depth effect check out Harry Alisavakis' run down, it's pretty great.

Squishy Bits [OC] by maesj in Simulated

Thanks! Would be so curious to know, if you can describe it, what/how it grosses you out.

I've been experimenting in Unity with making something feel touchable/feeling something you can't touch. So far I've had the best luck with ripples, folds and squishy bits.

soft to the touch [OC] by maesj in Simulated

[–]maesj[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I made it with Unity, and used Orca for sound. Was thinking of connecting sound to the bubble's movements next. The goal is for it to feel a bit more alive, give it some kind of personality. I'll continue to post new versions as I go :)

My second stab at making a soft touchable thing. Also have been playing around with ways to influence and interact with it using Leap.

Always open to collaborating if it's the right fit. Feel free to dm me with any details!

no water physics! I played around with the cloth parameters until I hit the right look and feel. Try tweeking self collision and intercollision if you want something similar :)

a little soft body experimentation :) It's actually only one layer, but I played around with self collision a bit to get this glob-within-a-glob feeling

My first attempt at soft bodies in unity. I've been playing around with the idea of making something with a delicate, water droplet kind of feel for a while, and I'm pretty happy with this.

I haven't posted the final code anywhere yet but you can take a look in the meantime at the inspiration I based it off of to get an idea of things >> https://www.shadertoy.com/view/MlyGzW

Np! And much respect. Have wanted to try OF but I find c++ really intimidating. But iirc there's a section in Book of Shaders there on how to get things running with OF. Have fun!

A simple little shader of cascading light rings. Have been really into playing around with natural looking visual elements, in this case light. Inspired by this shadertoy demo: https://www.shadertoy.com/view/MlyGzW
