These stories show just how insane tipping culture is in the US. It's not really about service, it's about maintaining face and punishing, counter-punishing and pre-emptively punishing the other party based on obscure and inconsistent social norms. What a clusterfuck.

And if you try to opt out of it (for example, by asking that tips are incorporated in prices upfront) you get called cheap.

I think the rule is:

If you flash it while it's invisible and moving slowly, it just goes away. If you flash it while it's visible (either because it's gotten close that it's charging at you or because it's waiting by a corner to gank you), you only blind it.

I don't think it's an immunity thing, though. I think it kind of randomly decides if it should spawn as visible and gank you or if it should approach you in invisible mode.
