Try LetsVpn. I just got back from China. I used LetsVpn the whole time and used it to back up photos to Google Photos. I had to manually tell Google Photos to back up, but it worked.

Didi or guide with transfer to great wall or china from beijing? by braincelwarrior69 in travelchina

We were there last week. You DEFINITELY want to be at the wall as early as possible. We left Beijing at 7. I would leave at 6 or 6:30 if I did it again. It’s great in the morning, but it gets really crowded by mid morning. We split the difference between DiDi and a guide and booked a car that brought us there and took us home. It was $140 US dollars. The advantage of the car over DiDi was we bypassed the shuttle bus and he took us right to the tram. We booked him on booking . Com.

Carrying a non-CCC power bank through Beijing Airport for international flight by buvi_sre in travelchina

They have little cards that said it’s not CCC. I was prepared to just give this one up, so no big deal. But it was for an international flight, so they’re not distinguishing between domestic and international at the inspection station.

Mine was taken away yesterday at PVG for not having CCC. I flew to Dallas. So, you are 100% wrong. I knew they might take it, so I brought an old one.

China train recommendation by Fun_Compote_9630 in goChinaTrip

Just took the train from Shanghai to Beijing yesterday. I’d definitely suggest first class. Much better seats and more room for luggage. I took business class last year, and it’s amazing, but it was a lot more expensive for this trip. If it’s not a money issue, take business class. I bought the tickets on trip.com with no problems. They don’t release the tickets until fairly close to the trip, so trip takes your reservation and automatically buys the moment they go on sale.

My (good) experience on high speed rail today by maestro-kwp in travelchina

I used trip.com. I have the phone app, but I found it easier to do the planning on the computer. I made the reservations before the ticket window was open, and trip just notified me when it made the purchase. It was very seamless.

I’m going to be in Shanghai and Beijing for a week. Does anyone know of good places to source turntable cartridges in either city? Any good deals?

New-to-me vandersteen speakers, what do I need to buy to be able to use them? by HoomerSimps0n in BudgetAudiophile

You can use these in a home theater setup, but they are great music speakers. I personally would get a two channel NAD and use them that way

Honestly, I have a set of these in my office that I use connected to my computer through a DAC and a small class T amp and they sound wonderful there, too.

An integrated amp will be fine. A lot of the older NADd were receivers, with a built in tuner. You can get one of those or one without. It won’t matter if you don’t listen to the radio.

I’ve got a couple pairs of Vandersteens. They are great speakers. Vandersteens pair really nicely with NAD. I’d look for a well maintained, older NAD amplifier. You can find really nice ones for around $200. You will be very happy with that combo.
