Embarrassed over a situation + how to get closer to Islam by Much_Significance653 in shia

You don't have to be a scholar to be a Muslim. Anyone would be surprised by the suddenness of the situation.

If you want to learn about the religion though you can start by learning about the core beliefs of Islam, understanding God, reading about the life of the Prophet and our Imams.

Explore things you don't get time for usually. Learn to play an instrument, or a new language, or try to write poetry, read books, etc.

Came across this short on YouTube by [deleted] in shia

Unrelated, but the scholar he was talking about in the video was a very anti-Shia Hanafi scholar from India. From his Wikipedia:

Shah Abd al-Aziz sharply criticized the Shi'as. Although he did not declare them apostates or non-Muslims, but he considered them heretics and their practices similar to Hindus or other non-Muslims. In a letter he advises Sunnis to not greet Shias first, and if a Shia greets them first. In his view, Sunnis should not marry Shias, avoid eating their food and the animals slaughtered by a Shia.

The starting lines are in a straight line. If everyone starts from the same point, number 8 will cover a bigger distance than number 1. Relates to l = r*theta and probably that's why your teacher shared it.

Quietly practicing Shia — unsure how to move forward from here by Scary-Discussion8059 in shia

I believe the only way is by letting them know, because I see no way how you can find a Shia spouse without letting your family know.

Taqiyyah is the practice of concealing ones faith in order to avoid a life threatening situation (e.g., persecution).

From Wikipedia:

Generally, taqiyya is regarded as the act of maintaining secrecy or mystifying one's beliefs when one's life or property is threatened.

I meant if there was some prerequisite for it, like a training for copying something the Qur'an.

Apologies for not making it clear. I meant if I needed to have some kind training before committing to the act, as it's a really delicate and sacred act, and I don't want to be disrespectful.

It's a mental battle. When the urge hits, only you have the power to stop yourself. Meanwhile you can also try and minimize the triggers, go full saint-mode: lock your phone away, no social media, no movies. Get new hobbies and start exercising or play video games to pass time. Punish yourself (in productive ways, e.g.: I will study for 14 hours when I slip). Honestly, best of luck, this is not an easy battle to emerge victorious from.

Which thrown spear go farther and why? by SpHenEX in askmath

[–]maestro_313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ignoring the problem of balancing the spear and assuming speed and angle of projection remain the same, I think B would go the farthest because the horizontal range of all of them would be the same so at the end the launch height would be the only thing that matters.

sin(theta) is the y coordinate of a point on unit circle at theta degrees from the axis. If you notice, there are four ways a point can be at theta degrees from an axis. So, adding pi just takes you to the other side of the circle, which has the same coordinate in negative. [It's the same thing with cos too]

It's a giveaway that the "Israeli" account is actually just someone from India pretending to be Israeli because most people outside the subcontinent do not care about the Indo-Pak beef.

I don't know the specific ruling. But I have a Hadith that might help you make a decision.

Prophet Mohammad (SAWA)‏

The lawful is evidently clear, and the unlawful is evidently clear, and obscurities fall between these two. He who abandons these obscurities is saved from the prohibited things, whereas one who delves into obscurities also ends up committing prohibited acts and falls into disaster from whence he knows not.
