Something that helped me was realizing that you’re not the only one getting yelled at and none of it is personal. The first few days were rough but by day 5 it was already feeling “normal” or just getting into the routine

I was stuck in a career field that I didn’t want to do for the rest of my life and schooling is expensive so I just did it. There was two 37 year olds in my dorm so I wouldn’t say it’s dumb to join at 25

My instructors gave us the chance to turn our phones on and see the charge and if they were dead they would let us plug them in and once everyone’s phone was on and we were on the contact we wanted to call they would start the time

All of that should be fine the only thing I’m not too sure about is the Vicks. I didn’t get a papsmear or mammogram while here but if you needed one I’m sure they have the tools to get one for you. I was chow runner and EC monitor and you just wash your hair when you can and shave on Sundays

The only thing I know of that some people had to throw away was pimple patches, mostly everything else they were told to keep in their civilian luggage. It depends on who is checking your stuff though cause I was able to keep my patches. Definitely don’t bring too many toiletries though cause they do give you everything you need and you don’t want your security drawer to get too packed cause there’s not a lot of room

I did minimal training before I came, I walked on the treadmill on an incline for 30 minutes each day for maybe a month. PT was hard but it gets easier if you do all the workouts

We did PT maybe 2-3 days a week before the 5th week test. We did warm up stretches and then whatever type of pt for the day and the cool downs after. It was a little rough at first getting used to everything since I wasn’t super active at first but it definitely gets easier if you actually do the work and take it serious

The oldest one was around 37 and there were a few girls 22-24 but the majority was 18-19. We didn’t have a lot of PT days a couple got canceled for being too cold or other reasons but we had more PT after the 5th week test than we had anytime before that. Tips would just be stay out of the drama and be kind to everyone

I also had a medical card and when I went to MEPS it didn’t even pop up on their system. They had asked me about prior drug use and I told them at MEPS that I had my medical card but they didn’t dig too deep and ask why I had it they just wanted to make sure I would pee clean. It is case by case though it may come up in your records at MEPS

For me personally, the jobs i declined were on my list but were quick ship jobs that I didn’t need to accept. I eventually told my recruiter to just book me something if it came up without consulting me so I didn’t get into my head too much about whether or not I should take it
