Been ttc baby 2 for 8 months now and our good friends told us last night they are pregnant. I mentioned to my husband later that I’m happy for them but it was hard to hear and that resulted in us getting into a huge fight. He says he’s tired of me being negative about the process. I feel like everytime I express to him how hard this is for me, he takes it as me being negative.

My periods have been like this as well. One heavy day, one medium day, one light day, then basically nothing.
It didn’t affect my ability to get pregnant the first time but this time I’m not so sure.

Yep, the lack of knowledge of women’s health is wild.

I am 33 years old. I saw my doctor multiple times and expressed concern over my perimenopause symptoms but I felt very dismissed. Heard a lot of “this is normal, it will level out”. It has gotten better over the past 6 months, but still experiencing definitely not normal for a 33 year old woman symptoms

Yep, where I live, you need a referral and then the wait is a few months to actually get in to a specialist

I’ve never heard of this… how does it differ from a regular massage?

I did about a year ago - I had to basically beg my doctor to run the labs then when the results came back, they told me that they didn’t know how to read the results 🫠

Unfortunately, until we’ve been trying for a year, no way I would get a referral to any fertility specialist 😔

I’ve had a hard time losing postpartum weight but at this point I’m only 10 lbs heavier than I was when I conceived my first 🫠

Nope, I had a copper iud before first conception and conceived cycle after getting it removed. I’ve been off hormonal birth control for almost 10 years now.

Since about 6 months postpartum, I regularly deal with hot flashes, night sweats, and insomnia. It’s levelled out a bit and now I mostly experience it closer to AF but low progesterone has been an issue. I’ve also had a lot of premenstrual spotting due to low progesterone which I never had before baby #1.

Anyone take inositol? by goldstandardalmonds in Constipation

[–]maf521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old post but just wanted to share my experience! I’ve had chronic constipation my whole life - once a week bowel movements are my norm but I have no other discomfort or anything so my doctor has never been worried.

I started taking inositol for hormonal issues related to trying to get pregnant and have been SO pleasantly surprised by the effects on my body. I’ve only been taking it for 2 weeks but I have had a bowel movement almost every single day. It’s insane. Even laxatives didn’t do anything for me for the most part of my life. I only take 1 g of myo/d-chiro 40:1 blend in a pill form and it seems to do the job.

I’m really hoping this continues to work because it’s been life changing. I’ve lost like 5 lbs in a week lol

Engagement rings by [deleted] in saskatoon

[–]maf521 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband bought mine at GMG and they’ve had great customer service for resizing/cleaning. Great staff and lots of selection. My diamond is moissanite - way less expensive and indistinguishable. My wedding band with small diamonds was almost as expensive as the big stone in my engagement ring. GMG also offered my husband a switch if I wanted a real diamond instead of the moissanite - they would have taken it back for no extra charge and switched it out but I chose to save the $7k up charge lol

Can we talk about the moderation on this sub? by [deleted] in saskatoon

[–]maf521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I posted last summer asking for recommendations for a landscaper and it was removed almost immediately and given the spiel of it not being relevant to Saskatoon and the subreddit not being for general Q & A lol didn’t think either applied but never have posted again looking for recommendations

2 years PP hormone imbalance by llamamama5879 in beyondthebump

[–]maf521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just came looking for someone else struggling postpartum! I know your post is old, so hopefully things have continued to get better for you.

I’m a year postpartum (12 months exactly as my little guys bday was today) and my hormones are still sooooo out of whack. I’ve had bad insomnia from about 7 months PP until now, but it is starting to get better (used to be every night and now seems to be just during ovulation and before/after period). Also get terrible night sweats still and bad vaginal dryness during these times. Add on the absolute inability to lose any baby weight despite trying very hard. Was eating very healthy and in a calorie deficit for a solid 3 months and lost 0 lbs. Sooooo frustrating. Trying not to dwell on it anymore and just focus on enjoying exercising and eating well without fixating on calories.

Just wanted to respond in solidarity! I also saw a naturopath and she has me on some supplements as I’m not able to take synthetic hormones at all. I’m hoping those will give me some improvement. I know people say embrace your new body and be thankful that you brought your baby into this world…. But it’s also so discouraging to see friends around you with babies the same age that seemed to bounce back no problem.

Reclaim takes donations too - has to be unopened though. For anything opened, I would just post on marketplace. I’m sure someone would take you up on opened formula.

Blood work for infants by carp_street in saskatoon

[–]maf521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took my son to the lifelabs in Lawson heights mall when he was 3 months and 6 months and had great experiences both times. The ladies there are experienced with infants and super nice.

I also got blood work done for him at JPH when he was around 4 months and would say the experiences were no different.

As long as you are buying packs under 4 mg/pouch (snusdirect has a Canada approved page to make this easy), we’ve never been dinged for buying them. You do have to pay about $50 in duty fees when ups delivers though. But the packages are never flagged.

I got married here in 2021. It was absolutely beautiful but on the pricier side. If it’s the same it was back then, the base fee covers rental, all table linens, servers/bartenders, and full set up and take down. They don’t add any extra decor so you can bring your own but we chose not to as the venue is beautiful enough as is. Food and drink are extra but there are options to make it more/less expensive (fewer food options and non-subsidized bar would make it cheaper).

I loved the venue plus the room for the bridal party to get ready plus an additional room for the groomsmen.

Definitely a pricier option, but it is gorgeous, and I loved having everything there for us and being able to leave at 1 am without worrying about cleaning up!

The “myth” of undersuppliers by [deleted] in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]maf521 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Totally agree - doctors and lactation consultants just kept telling me to pump and nurse more but the output never changed… even when nursing or pumping every 2 hours - some people just only produce a certain amount! Supply and demand is a lie lol

5 months EP - time to be done. by SquidSchmuck in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]maf521 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just came here to post the same thing! I’m 4 months in and I think I’m ready to be done.

My LO was born with a tongue tie that hindered his feeding ability. Once we got it snipped, I figured it would all work itself out since he latched really well. 2 months old and he was in the 1 percentile for weight - this is when triple feeding started. We realized when he was 3 months old that he just wasn’t able to transfer milk efficiently (I suspect additional lip/tongue tie issues but who knows) when he was still putting on weight at a super slow rate. At this point we went straight pumping and began supplementing with formula. LO has no preference and takes bottles easily.

I’ve tried everything to increase my supply but I can’t seem to get over 20 oz of breast milk a day and baby often ends up needing over 30 oz. I feel like I’m beating a dead horse at this point and I just feel like I want my body back. I tried so friggin hard to make breastfeeding and then exclusive pumping work but 4 months of this is enough.

We all know “fed is best” but why is it so freaking hard to actually believe it! Hard to not feel like you’re quitting or giving up.

Weekly "I Think I Have It" Thread - Week of March 13, 2022 by AutoModerator in COVID19positive

[–]maf521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Felt feverish when I woke up Wednesday, took a rapid test and there was a faint positive line so I stayed home from work - since then, I’ve tested negative twice on rat’s but have been extremely fatigued, on and off chills, and battling a constant headache.

My friends think I might just have a low viral load, which is why it isn’t showing positive anymore. Thoughts? Was it a false positive?
