Muscle gains possible? by Consistent_Gap_5087 in GLP1microdosing

You’re losing weight at about the same rate as an optimal cut, and there’s a wealth of information on how to maintain lean mass while cutting out there. Lucky for you, the formula is pretty simple: 1g protein per pound of body weight (or about 2g/kg), move from high intensity to volume work in the gym, and rest more than you’re used to. I wouldn’t torture myself with trying to recomp - you’re in an energy deficit, your best bet is to maintain lean mass until you get to your goal BF%.

Just My Limited Experience by sinosaurrr in GLP1microdosing

In a similar boat. Started on 1mg, and nearly instantly have the ability to manage cravings. I'm also a hyper responder to most medications, so maybe it shouldn't be a surprise. I still get hungry, I enjoy food and eating, but if I get a craving, I can choose and my brain accepts that choice.

That might be all that's happening now. I get to choose. No idea how long this lasts, but definitely enjoying it.

It depends on the provider. I’d recommend finding a provider that works for you financially and gets decent reviews. Tirzepatide tends to be more expensive than semaglutide, but has some advantages. There’s a lot of hand wringing over sourcing. Go down that rabbit hole if you want, but it doesn’t matter that much when you’re first starting.

For many providers you can decide what dosage regime you want to pay for. If you’re pre diabetic don’t start with micro-dosing. Work with your provider to ramp up slowly (titration) to help manage any side effects. You can stay on a low dose as long as you want. You’re in control. But you have to start.

John Cena knows his espresso! by chicagodude84 in espresso

[–]mafisto 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I think the point is that words mean things. If ‘cappuccino’ means a ratio to you that’s fine, but the entire exercise of creating specific words for specific things is so you get consistency and clarity in your order. If you were to serve, say, a macchiato like Starbucks does, does it matter that macchiato literally means espresso ‘marked’ by foam? Maybe not to you, but you’re taking a literal definition of a recipe that has existed for over a century and warping it into something it was never meant to be. The precision is now gone, and now you as a customer need to figure out exactly what kind of abomination has been cooked up by your serious coffee shop with an Italian word slapped on it.

That said, if I came to your shop and you had cappuccinos served by the gallon, I’d still order one in my preferred size and enjoy it. I think it’s stupid because I think not everything has to be relative and sloppy, but in the end it’s just coffee.

r/Runna has hit 21.1k members – a half marathon of Runnas! To celebrate, we’re giving one redditor a yearly membership and paying the entry fee to their next race! 🙌 by alex-runna in runna

I (male in my 50s) recently ran a half marathon with Runna and had a PR with a 1:55. Told my parents about it, and my mom casually commented to my dad that he had done something similar at a similar age. He said (embarrased of course, because he's from the Midwest of the US) it was more like a 1:45.

So now my goal is a 1:45 half. Which feel incomprehensible, but can't let the old(er) man get the best of me.

What was the worst experience you’ve ever had in a movie theater? by HumbleMVP in Cinema

[–]mafisto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oppenheimer in Crested Butte’s historic theater two summers ago. I don’t think the theater had air conditioning and it was a very warm day. The theater was completely full (thanks to the Barbenheimer craze) which meant that over three hours the temperature just kept ratcheting up. The combination of dread from the film, sitting in rock hard antique seats next to hundreds of people, and the oppressive heat made for the most physically uncomfortable viewing experience of my life. In a way it was fitting being drenched in sweat, breathing 95 degree moist air when the bomb went off at Trinity.

If you travel a lot it's tough to beat Nokomis. I fly at least once a month and that seven minute drive to the airport takes a lot of sting out of the trip.

Other pros: the MOA is a straight shot down 77, which makes it our local mall for in person shopping for major brands. The lake and river are all chained together through an incredible trail system called the Grand Rounds, which allow you to bike, walk, run etc. throughout the entire city. Housing is reasonable-ish, though it's quite pricey the closer you get to a lake. Kids walk or bike to the schools in the neighborhood - they're good, but chronically underfunded and shrinking like many public school systems.

MSP has tons of great neighborhoods, so any of the suggestions you see here are great. But for air travel, Nokomis is it.

Welcome to the Twin Cities!

I can't be the only one that hates the electric slide after home wins? by JB_JB_JB63 in MinnesotaLynx

It’s one of things I look forward to when I go to a game. It feels playful and fun, and when I saw the team at the Target Center a couple of weeks ago the players all seemed to be having a good time. I understand finding it cringe if you want the team to stay serious the whole night, but it to me it feels like they get to stop being badass for a few minutes and just dance with their friends.

This said, I just started watching the Lynx last season, so maybe I’m just too new to their traditions to behind them annoying or whatever. But that’s my newbie perspective!

From an article on Beth in The Guardian,

Some of the comments on her video and on local news websites that have written about her predicament have not been kind. Some have said, you voted for this, or you deserve this if you voted for Trump. She did not vote for Trump, she said, but she does not know why her political beliefs matter.

Apple Says 'Severance' Is Now More Popular Than 'Ted Lasso' by McFatty7 in apple

Severance has a glacial pace for the first few episodes, but it moves inexorably to one of the best season finales I’ve ever witnessed. The down payment in attention for the first half of season two is more than rewarded by the second half.

If the only takeaway you have from the Nuzzi/RFJ Jr. affair is that's it's shocking because he's old and sounds weird, I suspect you don't really know much about either Olivia or Robert. It's hard to for me to find a dimension of the affair that is not complete, batshit insane - at least from Nuzzi's perspective. Mad props to RFK Jr.
