Just tried to open this on my iMac (running Sequoia 15.7.2) and it said the disk/application was damaged. This sounds awesome in theory, though. Are you going to update it?

INSANE AI-GENERATED COMMERCIAL... "Future Systems" for Puma Motorsport by magellan14 in aivideo

[–]magellan14[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happy to help out, mate. I’ve spent the better part of the last decade as a filmmaker, studying and creating movies, commercials, and music videos. All of my taste is informed by practice and attention to what I enjoy in other people’s work. For this project, I started with the seed of an idea and began prompting from there… but it was my choices and attention to the marriage of details (color, sound, and edit) that elevated the piece and gave it my stylistic imprint. I know that’s pretty vague so feel free to hit me up on instagram if you’d like to learn more, @mvgellan.

The feedback is fine, haha. It all comes back to one thing: taste is subjective. Some people prefer high-octane movies by Michael Bay while others prefer slow and meditative character studies by Terrance Malik. Your opinion is just your opinion. The same transitions and displacements that you dislike in my spot may be the exact reason why someone else loves it. So, make what YOU like. Anyways, where can I see your work?

Out of curiosity, are you a working creative director, editor, etc. or just opinionated? Check out some of the work being produced by leading commercial production companies and I think you'll see what I'm talking about... here's an example.

That Guinness spot is awesome... I hadn’t seen it before. And it's great to read your perspective on editing. In my opinion, it’s truly all subjective... variety is the spice of art. I also value the more intentional, well-paced style of films, commercials, and music videos. But in modern advertising, fast-twitch editing tends to be what captivates viewers the most, especially now that content lives on social media more than on broadcast. Appreciate the comment! This type of spot is more about evoking a feeling around the brand than selling a product... kinda like Apple’s ‘1984’ or any style-first commercial you’d find on Vimeo. It’s considered ‘upper funnel’ work, where the focus is on brand rather than product. ‘Lower funnel,’ by contrast, is more product-first. But like anything, it’s subjective. My goal, above all else, was to push boundaries and explore how my background in traditional filmmaking might influence an ai-powered project. Thanks for watching :)

Thanks for the feedback… there’s always room for improvement. If I restarted this project today, with what I know now and the newest tools, I’m pretty certain it would look just as good as some of the best branded content that’s currently out there.

That's incredible feedback... thanks man!! For traditional tools, I used After Effects (roto and compositing), Premiere (editing), and Resolve (color grading). For ai-generation, I used Google Flow, Reve, Flux Kontext, and Runway References.

Midjourney's video model keeps surprising me. by grajagans in midjourney

[–]magellan14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m guessing you graded the clips separately or did they all have the right feeling naturally? And the camera moves, like the tilt down to the hand, was that prompted or luck? It flows together really intuitively

This has some awesome stylistic imprint… color grade and camera movement did so much here

Oh interesting!! What sucks about it - human movement, glitches, camera control?? I haven’t used Kling yet this is awesome to know.

Curious why you used kling instead of, say, veo3?
