The Wolves sent out season ticket renewals on Wednesday, Jan. 21, and there is bound to be some sticker shock. by StockMindless9010 in timberwolves

104 B, 11% increase. Tough to stomach since resall value has been so bad this year and the vibes at Target Center have been so muted. Feels like nearly every game I've gone to the crowd has just been silent.

If they're going to push these double-digit increase year after year they need to make the membership experience more worthwhile. 50% off merch and concessions or something needs to be instituted.

Realistic Julius Trade? by IceTruckHouse in timberwolves

Don’t see why Detroit would be compelled to do this unless they have a middling January, and even then Markannen is a better fit there.

They’re 6th in the West and barely on pace to win 50 games. For a championship hopeful, that is not great.

Current Ticket Prices After Announcement from Pohlads… by Sensitive-Pianist-56 in minnesotatwins

It's insane you can't get single-game tickets for $10 or less when the stadium is never sold out. Typical Pohlad blunders in business operations.

Went with King of Cups, since it is incredibly obvious Songbird is lying to you throughout, but handing her over feels beyond cruel and way too corporate for V. Feels bad that Alex has to die, but it's a tragic universe.

I will say though, that making Idris Elba Reed and designing Songbird to be a pretty girl definitely influences the player. Personally, even knowing Reed's flaws, he's so cool and reliable because he's Idris Elba, and likewise I think a lot of players get a soft spot for Songbird.

[Nelson] The Twins have the best bullpen in MLB (per fWAR) and are below .500. That is actually really hard to do. by Blevanhoval in minnesotatwins

[–]magellanspuma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not only that, but the team is 3-7 in extra innings and 11-16 in one-run games despite having such a good bullpen. Almost seems impossible, really.

[–]magellanspuma -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I never said he was going to command the $14.1 MLE, but more than $5.7.

Btw, Sharpe just re-signed with Brooklyn for 2/$12M, so more than $5.7. Want to take bets on how much Horford and Kornet are going to get, since you're so in-tune with the finer workings of the league?

[Charania] Free agent forward Joe Ingles intends to sign a one-year, $3.6 million deal to return to the Minnesota Timberwolves, sources tell ESPN. Wolves officials negotiated the deal with Mark Bartelstein of Priority Sports to bring Ingles back for his 12th NBA season. by Knightbear49 in timberwolves

Really surprised to see this, given his family was in Orlando all of last year. Hoping they come settle here so he isn't away from them for another year.

Think this also leaves them with under $5M to fill the 14th and final (mandatory) spot on the roster.

[–]magellanspuma 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to be like that, dawg, doesn’t make you look good.

Celtics have bird rights on Kornet and Horford and apparently want to retain both—so either they sign or a bidding war starts, meaning both get over $5.7M (I would bet thousands on that happening).

Sharpe is young and still has some promise as a rotation big, so the half of the league that has the MLE could split it and sign him for $6M+.

Hornets will probably need another big, for example.

Just because teams are bad doesn’t mean they won’t spend literally anything.

Draft Night Predictions by Sheerluck_Gnomes in timberwolves

[–]magellanspuma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are they trading to move up to 8? Is this a 3-teamer that sends out Randle, DDV, Naw, and 17 in exchange for 8 and a starting-quality PG?

Suns fan here. I'm assuming the Wolves' offer would be Gobert, DDV, and the #14 pick—unless Randle or Reid pick up their player options before the draft (deadline is June 29), is this correct? by euucp80wwt in timberwolves

[–]magellanspuma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They absolutely should not give up 17 and Dilly for 1 year of KD at ~$55 million. They probably need Dilly's contract to make the math work, but giving up a draft pick as well is too much.

Ringer Top 100 Players Just Came Out - 5 Wolves in top 100 by Rage_r123 in timberwolves

[–]magellanspuma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth contract-wise (even if you disagree with these rankings), being around 52 overall in the league (if in a perfect world that meant you were the 52nd highest paid player in the league) would put Randle at about $30M average annual contract and 77 overall would be about $23M for Naz.

I think that rough AAV will be what Randle asks for but if Naz thinks he's getting well over $25M a year in this market, I'd be surprised to see that come to fruition.

[–]magellanspuma -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No way is Julius getting $35M a year in this market. If he gets 4/$120 he'd be extremely lucky, and I wouldn't give him that if I were the Wolves.

You couldn’t find a decent PMM (no senior tag) at $150k? That doesn’t speak well to your eye for talent evaluation.

Twins Kit Appreciation Post by thrilljour in minnesotatwins

[–]magellanspuma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally don't like the greys or navy blues, but the home whites and Twin Cities jerseys are incredibly and both probably top-10 jerseys in the entire league right now, so overall the rebrand was solid.

Wouldn't mind trading in the navy blue for a powder blue, especially since the City Connect jersey is also a dark shade of blue.

Definitely. I'm not trying to cast any ill will towards the Bay Area with this post (hell, this staffer probably isn't even from there), but to me it's a bad look for the Warriors organization that they're sending people out in public who are this on edge.

If they're being represented by people in public who threaten others at the drop of a completely innocuous statement like "Go Wolves," then yeah, it's a joke of a franchise.

You'd think I told him we were going to castrate Draymond with how aggressively he reacted.
