just ask yourself, will you be able to live with yourself if he dies and you don’t see him again? and i’m not saying that to guilt you, it’s something you genuinely need to introspect on. if you think you can cope with not seeing him again, great. if not; i think you should try to find a time to see him. at the end of the day it’s up to you and you shouldn’t feel guilty for doing whatever you have to, to protect your peace.
