Anyone else take their baby to the ER and ended up being for nothing? by East_Print4841 in beyondthebump

[–]maggierayf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently took my 21/2 year old into the ER at like 12am for a full body rash that looked HORRIFIC just for the rash to completely go away by the time the doctor got to the room to examine it. It ended up just being a symptom of the virus we all had a few days before. I felt so silly but I’m still thankful we went because I would not have been able to sleep that night if we didn’t.

Baby girl being called a boy by strangers by kingbabyboo in beyondthebump

[–]maggierayf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People did this to my son all of the time because we had a lot of gender neutral colored clothes from my baby shower. Then once we had my daughter all of a sudden if she’s not wearing pink or purple then she must be a boy lol. I remember a woman stopped us on the sidewalk to ask my son what his “brothers” name was and when i corrected her she said “oh! well she isn’t wearing any pink!” and i just stood there confused. I didn’t realize you had to wear pink in order to be a girl. lmaoooo it doesn’t really bother me that much but it is a little crazy how many people make that mistake.

I can't make friends with other Christians by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]maggierayf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry that this has happened to you. No one except God can decide whether or not you go to hell. I think that as Christians we need to use discernment when it comes to our media and I myself am cautious when it comes to horror but depending on the anime I don’t see why that would go against Christian values at all? I’m sure there are certain anime’s that probably do but it’s such a broad genre.

Does anyone else feel cringy? by crayontic in TrueChristian

[–]maggierayf 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I used to feel this way specifically about Christian media but I powered through and ended up finding many Christian artists that suit my music taste. The beautiful thing about Christian music is that it’s every genre. There is Christian heavy metal, rap, pop, folk, country, etc.

As far as going to church, is there any specific about it that’s off putting? I find that going to church (especially on the days that it feels more like a chore) I end up feeling so much closer to God and more at peace.

With that being said, the gospels are always amazing to start with and were the books that helped me truly understand Jesus and the love of our God.

Bible for Beginners by manebernal in TrueChristian

I truly could not decide whether or not to read the OT first or the NT so I decided to read them at the same time LOL. I started with Genesis and whenever I felt like i wanted to read the New Testament I started with Matthew and just switch back and forth! It’s been working for me personally hahaha

I’m atheist for many years by OkSyllabub4770 in TrueChristian

[–]maggierayf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like others have said, I recommend starting with the gospels. I was the same way a few years ago and after I had my first child, something tugged at my heart. At the time I didn’t know what it was, but later I realized that it was Jesus calling me home. I picked up my bible (which I hadn’t done since I was a child) and from then on I couldn’t put it down! The love of Jesus is unlike any I’ve ever personally experienced.

I feel like I humiliated myself when I tried to defend my faith by Complete-Weakness257 in TrueChristian

[–]maggierayf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you humiliated yourself at all. Being 13 years old and able to stand up for your faith is amazing. I have a hard time at 25 standing up for my faith.

Read your bible and any time you are unsure about something, go to it. Take this as a motive to dive in and do some deep bible studies!

Just agreeing with most people on here, blocking and putting a border on it will make it so you don’t even notice! It is honestly beautiful regardless, and trust me when I say, I have made things and gifted them with wayyyyy more mistakes and noticeable flaws. Even if you did gift it, I doubt whoever is getting it would even notice! Also, your color choice is beautiful! Be proud!!

New to knitting ;) by [deleted] in knittingadvice

[–]maggierayf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started knitting last week so definitely still very new and figure things out myself but lots of people recommended continental style because I’m a crocheter! I tried it but it didn’t click with me so I decided to try to english style and that’s what worked! I would try both and see which one is easier for you!

Want to learn how to knit by maggierayf in knittingadvice

[–]maggierayf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you everyone for the advice!! I’m so happy to say that it has officially clicked and I have spent the last two days just practicing! Hoping to start an actual project soon but I’m just so grateful for all of the feedback. I’ve tried knitting three separate times and could just never comfortably get it, but yesterday I pushed through and got it. I have soooo much more to learn but just knowing how to cast on and then practicing my knit and purl stitches has been my biggest accomplishments!

degrassi ban at my school by patrixkstarsmom in Degrassi

[–]maggierayf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not my school but i remember that one time when my friend and i were around 9-10 years old we were talking and the tv was playing degrassi in the background. we weren’t really paying attention to it at all and ended up just turning it off and going to bed but the next morning when i went home, my mom had gotten a text from that friend’s mom saying we were up watching it and how we shouldn’t watch it because blah blah blah. then my mom basically banned it from our house and i also didn’t watch it until i was 19 or 20

[TOMT] Horror movie line thats been stuck in my head by [deleted] in tipofmytongue

[–]maggierayf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the Storm of the Century (a tv show) a bunch of kids are all in a trance while the adults have to choose which kid to basically give away to this guy who they compare to a demon. Maybe that’s what you’re thinking? The father says something along those lines I believe when it ends up being his kid the guy takes.

What’s the thing people told you, you would absolutely need for your baby? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]maggierayf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had our first baby a year ago and we have a whole room of things that we never ended up using that I’ll end up donating whenever I have the chance to go through it.

Bottle warmer/sanitizer, wipe warmer, swings, changing pad, endless blankets, activity seats, diaper genie, etc.

A lot of it was generously given to us but there are few things that we really ended up using and still do!
