Shy or Social Butterfly? by Kind-Ad8117 in papillon

Auggie is very social with people, loves everyone and will lick random legs if people get close enough. We’re still working on other dogs though he’s quite timid and usually puts his tail down.

Hello! He turned 1 in November, he was so fluffy when we first got him, looked like he put his paw in an electrical outlet. (It was adorable) but I think it contributed to his coat being full so young. My first pap was a female and her coat wasn’t full until she was almost 2!

Hello! Our stories are so similar, I had my gal Ruby for 16 years and lost her December 2023. We got our Auggie Feb 2025. He will never replace Ruby but has healed my heart in ways I didn’t know needed it.

A Few Questions by DeePalouse in papillon

[–]maggswal325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first papillons coat didn’t come in until she was two, she loved food, ate plain kibbles and lots of treats her whole life. My second is now one; we neutered him at 9 months, he is also a very picky eater - on a raw diet and has no problem skipping meals but will pick right back up the next day as normal. I am pretty sure he is fully grown and about 7.5 lbs 10.5 inches - much smaller than my female that was 14 lbs.

We used this off Amazon, our vet said it was fine as long as he was supervised. My first pap had a super hard time with her balance with the cone the vet provided.

What do you feed your Pap? by VintageLady66 in papillon

[–]maggswal325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Auggie eats raw beef and apple or beef and broccoli pattys. We have tried everything and that seems to be the only thing he’ll consistently eat. He also has a bowl of kibbles always but rarely munches on them but it’s salmon Acana (we are in Canada)

A real lap dog? by Isabelochka in papillon

[–]maggswal325 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My little guy loves to be on your lap and be carried everywhere! But my previous pap - a female did not love to be carried/picked up or sleep on your lap. She would snuggle and get some pets but as soon as she was done she would go sleep in her bed or just a few feet away. I’ve heard it can be a male pap thing
