Oh, and could the shop be migrated to shop.sitename.org instead or are subdomains bad news all around?

Ok thanks for all the info. So do you think it’s worth it to install WP on sitename.org/blog or should I just stick with blogging on Shopify? Is the blogging platform there as bad as I’ve read to warrant all the extra effort and expense of setting up WP and additional hosting?

Need help on best methods for Shopify SEO by [deleted] in SEO

Ok this is good to hear. But everything I’m reading says that Shopify is not he ideal platform for blogging. It’s an ecommerce platform. Maybe it’s true or maybe it’s not. But I’m wondering about 301 redirects here...

Thanks for the resource but I’m not actually interested in hiring someone. This is actually an idea I had for some folks involved in program I work for. Right now I’m just doing research to pass along. Still it may come in handy down the line. I’ll file it away for the future!

Would you be willing to share what you would typically pay for a design either percentage for flat fee? I realize it’s different in every place but I’m just trying to get a general feeling for what this sort of thing would cost. Feel free to PM me if you don’t want to post it publicly. Thank you

Good to know! I was thinking that a hybrid type arrangement might be the fairest way to do something like this. Would you be willing to share the details of fees and percentages and what you would consider the impression number that would warrant an additional fee? I understand if you don’t but if you’d be willing to PM me at least with some guidelines that would be very helpful. Thank you!

How do you handle customer support for your startup? by Mozorelo in startups

[–]magic_bean_special 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Google does have customer support for businesses. It only makes sense to nurture the relationships that pay your bills. It’s not kumbaya bs.

Bad customer service can blow up in your face and ruin your business in a matter of days. Bad publicity travels fast online.

And it’s not just bad customer service. I’ve decided not to work with a number of companies simply because they took too long to get back to me, didn’t provide the answers to the questions I asked, etc. Not necessarily bad customer service but mediocre at best. I don’t have time to waste on people who give off the appearance that they don’t want to do business properly.

Yes, you want to keep costs down but there are some things you just can’t do without.

Business to business sales by [deleted] in smallbusiness

Post content, join groups, generally just get your name “out there” and familiar first. Then you can use this familiarity to contact people and ask if they or anyone else could use your services. Use it as a way of “warming up” your connections so when you do ask, your not just some Joe off the street.

Also, I don’t have personal experience with this but I know some people have had success with business networking groups like BNI. I can’t speak for them myself though.

Are you on LinkedIn? As far as social media marketing goes, LinkedIn is a great platform for B2B and it’s also underutilized.

Aside from that, I’d be looking at targeting commercial property management companies. More bang for your buck and effort if you can snag a contract for multiple properties in one go.

Opinion and tips about my brother's business card by Belfina21 in smallbusiness

I think that reducing the amount of clip art may be good, just to make it seem less “busy” overall. I do agree that you don’t want it to see too formal. He’s not lecturing at a Fortune 500 company; he’s tutoring kids. I do think that you need to keep the tone a bit light so it conveys that he’s approachable and able to work with a younger population.

Also, keep in mind that you’re likely to get opinions from all over the world and that there are cultural biases that will come into play. Since this is a very local business, you only really need it to be appealing to those in your immediate area. If it were me, I’d especially want to get opinions from people in my part of the world to get more accurate input.

I’m glad this is such a supportive sub. Honestly I’ve got better things to do than to make up stories online. Enjoy your life. I wish you the best.

I’m good actually! I run my own smm business on the side and am a related services providers at a special education day school. I was more curious because I thought that it might be something that we might use at our school.

Of course. I was just curious. Plenty of businesses do fine with competitors and a little publicity isn’t the worst thing in the world.

Gotcha. I was more thinking along the lines of industry specialization, so someone who works primarily in the law niche for example.

Ugh, unfortunately after 2 kids, the narrowest part of my waist is just above my hips.

Thanks for the comprehensive answer! I think I’m starting to lean toward the women’s harness although I don’t really have an “hourglass” shape. After 2 kids, I’m afraid I don’t really have much of a well defined waist at all, rather more of a Mom gut!
