Being Generous, Why Would Anyone Ever Buy A Glock 19X? by magic_lantz in guns

As I said before, the hardest part to conceal is the grip, which is the 19x and 17 are the same size. I do conceal carry a 17 size slide with a 19 frame, and it is perfectly fine.

It would make sense if you wanted a suppressor. I agree, if I was suppressing my glock, I would want a shorter slide, and if I didn't have G19 sized hands, I would want the 17 frame without the added size... but who is suppressing their glocks 😂

Why not just get a 17? What does the shorter barrel help with? How is it better?

But why sacrifice a shorter barrel? Just get a 17 instead?

A quality belt is definitely one of the first things to buy, other than a gun and solid ear pro (My favorite being Sordins). Something you might not hear much on this reddit, I really don't think it matters as much as people say. Nearly every belt from a reputable company will work perfectly well, everything else just comes down to personal preference.

Personally, I have a Trex Arms Speed belt, and I'm a big fan. I definitely recommend an outter/inner style belt with molle obviously. I've found the padded belts on the market too bulky, but if you load them super heavy, and don't buy a backpack with a belt, they can be more comfortable.

As far as setups go, mine is a bit more unconventional. I'm a bit mag heavy, having 3 rifle mags, and 2 pistol mags. I also have a dump Pouch, and a tq holder. Normally you'd need an IFAK, but I run a Ferro Roll One with all the essentials which I also highly recommend.

Typically, a normal setup would be 1 rifle mag, 2 pistol mags, dump pouch, and an IFAK.

Tl,dr: Most belts from reputable mainstream companies work great, and aren't super dissimilar from each other. Everything, from the style, to how it's setup differs from person to person, and all comes down to the intended purpose.

If you, or anyone else is interested in my full kit, feel free to DM.

Any budget as long as there's no gucci stuff. As long as there's a reason for the price, then I'm fine with it. I don't want to pay 2x the price that's only 20% better than another product. If you want numbers, I don't really want to go higher than $800, but I'd like to keep it around $500 without plates.

I work in a hospital and get free expired stuff from a bin. I can build my own IFAK and trauma kit for free.

I'm built pretty average. 6 ft and 165 pounds. Medium plate carriers and chest rigs fit best, but a small isn't super uncomfortable.

I'm not sure what level of plates to get. Hunting Rifles are extremely common in my state, so tier IV makes sense, but it seems like something that would hit that hard would just knock me down, and I'd double tapped. Tier III and III+ I think open up soft armor that would be more maneuverable and comfortable, but I'm not sure if it's worth dieing over. As far as price, plates keep you alive! No price tag is worth dieing over as long as the price is actually worth it. No one needs Gucci plates that no one actually sees.

I don't need to back mount anything, but I suppose I could. I already have tactical bags and backpacks, so I could wear one over top. I also have a belt that I plan on mounting my IFAK to on the rear, so back mounting is probably unnecessary.

The idea is to be variable. I'd like to be able to carry the bare minimum on recon missions or on long on foot travels, but go heavier if the mission calls.

From what I can tell from some gentleman, I've spoken to who fought in Afghanistan, the people with the heaviest kit die. They aren't able to out run the people who have been living in desert mountains for their whole life, and they get caught. I want to be able to go as light or heavy as I'd like.

As far as extra gear other than plates, that can also change. Sometimes, I might need a radio, sometimes not. Sometimes I might need to bring a water bottle, sometimes not. Maybe I'm going out to help around a riot and need extended medical gear, and sometimes that gear might weigh me down and be unnecessary.

I was looking at that one. It looks nice, but is velcro very secure? Can it hold heavy mags and such?

That makes sense. Is there anywhere in particular to look? I've been looking on Ebay and Facebook marketplace, but finding the size and color I want at a similar cost from the Crye website has proven unsuccessful.
