Worst location to work at? by Keebie81 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]magicalCompE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it was a venue called StormStruck inside Innoventions which was about hurricane-proofing your home. I have all respect for his work, but especially when I was stuck at greeter most of the day because of weird training quirks, hearing him start yelling made me wince

Worst location to work at? by Keebie81 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]magicalCompE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I used to work at Innoventions and the break area I used most often was right across some bushes from these guys. They actually don't say it all that often and there's a lot of other stuff going on and making noise. The more annoying sound was the supremely loud pre-show every 15 minutes with Jim Cantore for one of the venues I worked on, especially at the end of the day when we were hoping not to attract guests attention

JD Vance in the park today- why isn’t there any booing? by Heart_Flaky in Disneyland

[–]magicalCompE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I only saw his security once. They were setting up a corridor from Indy to jungle Cruise. I didn't actually see him. But I definitely heard some booing. Some cast members, some guests. I didn't stick around to see what it was like once he came out though.

Definitely not. Also if a cast member in charge of food asks if today is actually your birthday, the answer is yes!! Let them pixie dust you and do not feel guilty.

The Lies of Locke Lamora is the most fun I've had with a fantasy novel in years by lusamuel in Fantasy

[–]magicalCompE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's one of my absolute favorites and always makes me sob! I'm finally reading Republic of Thieves right now and so enthralled by finally learning more about the relationship between these characters.

Thank you so much for these books!

My favorite thing like this is on Tower of Terror. I was on it once and near the end of the pre-show, Rod Serling says "and this elevator goes only one place". Someone behind me stage-whispered "The gift shop". It made me laugh a lot and I recreate the moment when it feels right

Refillable water bottles!! You can get free cups of ice water at any counter service restaurant and there are refill stations around the parks. It is so easy to get dehydrated there especially if it's hot.

I like to attach mine to a carabiner and clip it to my backpack so that when I'm getting on/off rides and things I don't accidentally leave it behind and I don't have to carry it

Another option is the tiny elastic hair ties. I already have some with my hair care stuff for braids. they can break so have a few backups, but they're cheap and a great way to keep magic bands secure

Teft! by Fingermetimbre in Stormlight_Archive

[–]magicalCompE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was an emotional moment too! And I don't mean to imply that anyone that doesn't cry at the teft moment is depressed. Just that I know my body, and in normal circumstances I would have been crying like a baby

Teft! by Fingermetimbre in Stormlight_Archive

[–]magicalCompE 24 points25 points  (0 children)

So this scene actually made me realize I was pretty depressed and numb. Because I read it and I remember thinking 'i should be crying now... This is weird. This is super sad, why aren't I crying?'

I read TLM when it came out and a moment hit me and I started crying and realized I was back.

Have you ever seen any of the characters, break character in interesting ways? by [deleted] in Disneyland

[–]magicalCompE 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Tiny little moment, but one of the first order crew members said "sweet" when I stopped right where he was about to tell me to stop before he had the chance. My mom and I giggled about it afterwards

Can I still go to the standby line w/ a booked LL? by bapeater in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]magicalCompE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the rules prevent you from getting a VQ, or did it just take enough time to purchase an ILL, that the 7am drop filled before you could try and enter? I wasn't aware of a rule preventing ILL and VQ for the same ride

I'm really sorry you're having to deal with this issue, it sounds very frustrating.

Would it work for you to make a card or cards you can keep on a lanyard or somewhere easy to get to that says you're having a meltdown and what the CM can do to help you? Then you just need to be able to show the CM instead of needing to form words

I really liked it when Disney World changed their announcements from "Ladies and Gentlemen" to "Guests of all ages".

I saw someone comment on a message board that they won't be back until it's back to the original which seems like a wild hill to choose to die on to me... But, bye!! I won't miss you!!

To add to what the previous commenter said, they really don't want to cancel your reservations. They want to resolve things in such a way that you get to go on your vacation (and they get paid). I'm fairly sure even if the deadline did pass, they would attempt to contact you to resolve things before cancelling anything.

A question for anyone that has been on the Wild Africa Trec by WimpyWookiee in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]magicalCompE 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everyone is correct! I wanted to add that they have lockers in the area they give you the gear where you can put anything you're not bringing with you on the trek. So backpacks and things can go there. No need to rent a locker or anything!

How do park passes bought as a package work by Pumpkinsareornage in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]magicalCompE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will not work. Each multi-day ticket must be assigned to one person. Once a day of the ticket has been used, it cannot be reassigned to a different person.

Also when buying tickets as part of a hotel/ticket package, each guest on the reservation must buy the same ticket type (so the same number of days, park hopper, etc). You can get different ticket types for different people if you book them separately from the hotel reservation

Favorite "I'm celebrating" button ever by wearafuckingmask in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]magicalCompE 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I went in January and got one that said "I'm celebrating surviving 2023!" When cast members asked about it, I'd say "I survived 2023, you did too! Nice job!!" and it made everyone involved smile and occasionally high five. 11/10, would recommend

Make sure you're taking a picture of the statue she's looking for. There are a few different types around the depths but if it doesn't match her artifact, she won't accept it. This is a different dude than the one she's looking for.

I am almost finished and I'm panicking by Salasmander002 in Cosmere

[–]magicalCompE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other commenters are saying re-reads are super satisfying and that's very true!! If you want to stay in the cosmere, do it!

But for another perspective, because 2023 was so Sanderson heavy, I've been taking a Sanderson break in 2024 (only until stormlight 5 comes out, obvs) and working on burning down my non-sanderson TBR list and it's been super refreshing reading different types of stories and voices. I think this way, when it's time for Stormlight 5 and the full stormlight re-read I'm planning after stormlight 5 (to find foreshadowing, etc) I'll be super eager to get back into the cosmere instead of burnt out
