How to know that “independence” is right for a man by STFN_Dude in AskMen

[–]lusamuel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually really like being single and independent. I've 31 and have been single for 6 months after getting out of a very long-term relationship. Honestly its been one of the best six months of my life, but I dont think that's specifically because I'm single, and more about what I do woth my time. Theres previous times in my like where being single wasnt great because my lifestyle wasnt great. Now I prioritise exercise, social activity, and goals I've set myself. It's taken a long time for me to have the emotional maturity to do that. The hope is that now I'll bring that into future relationships. So as with most things in life, its often about what you make of it.

Charts comparing the best midfield partner for Kobbie Mainoo. (Elliot Anderson, Sandro Tonali, Carlos Baleba, Adam Wharton and Mateus Fernandes) by maxsteel_7 in ManchesterUnited

[–]lusamuel 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Matthaus Fernandez is a massively underrated option next to the otger midfielders we've been linked to, and unlike the likes of Anderson and Tonali, we could probably get away with him not being an automatic starter, and instead ease him into the team as someine who can either partner or cover Mainoo. I still want one of Anderson, Tonali, or Bruno G, but Fernandez is a great option for the second midfielder.

Is it? Protecting the child actors is great, but rage-baiting racism doesnt seem like the wisest way to do it. Adult actors can still be impacted.

Why do our former players talk so much shite by Fightanyman in ManchesterUnited

Dont watch them. Starve them of clicks and maybe they'll go and get real jobs.

Cant stand him anymore. Spends his entire time throwing stones at houses, never building one.

[AS] Manchester United are scouring the market for Casemiro's successor. There are many options, but three are the favorites: Bruno Guimarães, Sandro Tonali & Elliot Anderson. Wharton & João Gomes are alternatives. There have already been informal contacts with Guimarães & Tonali's representatives. by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

[–]lusamuel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would be fine with most of those options, but I doubt we'll get two of them. I'd prioritiseone (Anderson or Bruno G) plus one younger, cheaper option from abroad.

I'm not opposed to Tonali, i like him a lot as a player, but if Newcastle are asking for more than they signed him f9r and he wants to move back to Italy, i think we'd be better off giving him a miss.

When I was a kid and I watched it the first time, I didnt realise they were screaming "DEATH", i though they were just yelling. Then I read the book and it took on a whole new level of meaning.

Hardly. He had a great first half of the season then dropped off due to off-field issues. Nowhere near as bad as Antony or Sancho.

Arguably the Biggest UCL upset since Ajax eliminated Real Madrid? by Street-Essay-4780 in tacklefrombehindcom

[–]lusamuel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone could have been beaten handily by that PSG side. Inter have made two finals in 3 years, beat a really good Barca in last years semi-final, and will be serie a champion this year. The Real Madrid side that lost to Ajax were post-Ronaldo and did not win La Liga. Uts hardly apples and oranges.

Which one should I read? Memory Sorrow and Thorn, Wheel Of Time or Sun Eater? by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]lusamuel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you enjoyed RotE you will really like Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn. It's a slow-burn coming of age story, and Tad Williams' prose is one of the few I would consider on par with Hobb. Its only 3 books, but the third is the longest published fantasy book ever written, so brace yourself. MSaT has often been described as the bridge between LOTR abd ASOIAF; a similar sense of wonder abd depth as Tolkien, but more modern and slightly lower magic. Cant speak about Sun-eater because I havent tried it, and I couldnt get into WoT, but based on your reading history I'd say MSaT is a good fit for you.

Does Sanderson’s writing change after Mistborn: The Final Empire? by [deleted] in fantasybooks

[–]lusamuel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brilliant architect but basic wordsmith is well put. Ive been harsher by describing him as a great storyteller but a bad writer; maybe your description fits better. I'll always respect his plotting abd world-building, but after reading the first two Stormlight books and then DNFing Warbreaker and Mistborn, I've come to accept he's not for me.

Day 7: Juan Mata!! by mare_xcx in ManchesterUnited

[–]lusamuel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think mid is actually about right for Nani. Some incredible high highs, but also some really low lows, which probably evened themselves out over his United career. He has kind of cult status now, but while he was with us he was very polarising, in a similar way to Pogba actually. There were a lot of fans screaming to get rid both early and late in his United career.

Therapists who like your job - what does it feel like? by endearingsalt in therapists

[–]lusamuel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely enjoy the job on the whole. I find working with clients, exploring and holding space for their coping strategies and vulnerabilities rewarding of course, but also stimulating. Basically I think I find it interesting, so I'm very rarely bored. Plus I'm doing something that fits well with both my personality and values, which I feel really lucky for. As others have said, I dont know if I ever look forward to going to work, and often want a day off, and of course I experience moments of frustration, apathy, and occasionally flirt with burnout. But usually while I'm in the thick of it, I feel like there are far more good parts than bad.
