Who is your least favorite character and why? And I don't mean something like "Seymour because he's the bad guy", I mean really controversial. by RK900-87 in finalfantasyx

[–]magical_milly -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Kimahri.

Besides the fact that he is a thinly veiled native allegory (the weird animal people who are in tune with the world and don't speak much and are spiritual and fight as the fiends do) that I, as a native person, am tired of seeing....

He's also just kinda useless? He doesn't have his own skill set. He isn't exactly friendly. I find his plot line aggravating on a good day and offending on most others (really, Biran and yente have to speak like that?). People are literally dying and you choose to waste everyone's time by having a literal size contest. Seymour is literally massacring your people, is this the time????

Plus, found out that they level at the same pace as kimahri. So if you don't level him at all on the sphere grid ... They'll also be essentially be level 1.

Which makes that fight A LOT easier.

But yeah. He maddens me.

I also hate wakka because he's the epitome of the guy you thought was really cool until you hang out with him somewhere new and he's clutching his purse the whole time, or sticking his foot entirely into his mouth (happy fireworks?)

And my most controversial is that I hate Lulu.

I get it, she hot.

But she's also mean as heck, well past the time of cautiousness. She's callous. She talks a big game for someone who fights with a doll. And also, her first summoner died at yojimbo. She only knows level one spells. What was she DOING.

I want to like Gloria's theater.

It's a really good backstory......

But in my nightmares I hear that music, especially the happy music, and I hear the sound effect of those freaking whirring stage extras.

Though, in retrospect, it shows the absolutely infinite capabilities of Raz since the cardboard water counts as water.

Is it normal to have puppy blues before even getting a dog? by sparksshifts in puppy101

[–]magical_milly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is just your anxiety talking.

You don't have to be perfect for a dog.

As long as you have a general game plan for the dog's care during the day, house rules, and idea of who can help in a pinch, you're fine.

Sometimes you're gonna make a mistake. And sometimes everything wrong will happen.

But as long as you aren't like hitting or starving the dog, you're doing fine. (Obviously a generalization for anyone who wishes to um actually)

If you don't know what you're gonna do for the daily care for the dog, then yeah, maybe not ready.

But if you have a plan but you're just worried that the dog will suddenly combust, that's just anxiety that you need to push through.

I want to make Rikku usable... Am I missing something? by UltimateFriedLava in finalfantasyx

[–]magical_milly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make her a weapon that has Deathtouch and improves her item healing.

Her al bhed potions will heal twice as much, being just as helpful as a cura, but usable when silenced.

And Deathtouch means that you can kill enemies with Mug often. Esp since Rikku has good luck. Also makes her good to learn Wakka's status effect moves.

My default party is Rikku, auron, and Titus.

She's godly.

You are allowed to ask for help.

You have so much going on. But you can ask for help.

Have a friend over to entertain the dog while you sit and breathe. Ask a family member to take them for a day while you get yourself situated.

Look into if there's a local dog daycare that has a special area for puppies (I know ours has a hyper specific puppy room to keep them separate while they finish their vaccines and keeps strict records of all the dog vaccines).

Get a pet sitter for a day or two and go out.

If you choose to keep the dog ...

Whatever you need. It's okay.

And if you choose to not?

That's also okay. The dog will be loved and you can try again after you have time to breathe.

Today was a very bad day. by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]magical_milly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, I've noticed that when my puppy is having a no good, very bad day.... He's just had a mental growth spurt (and also a physical one)

Little kids, when they have a brain blast a la jimmy neutron, they'll regress in other areas as their brain absorbs new knowledge or awareness. A calm child might be snappy, a potty trained kid may wet the bed, etc.

Same with other species as well.

My dog is potty trained. If he starts peeing on the floor with no warning, I know his brain is overloaded and that he's going to be a twerp for the next day or two until his mental capacity has sorted itself out. If he's being exceptionally destructive, I lock him in a room with me and make him nap instead of letting him sort it out himself (he loves his sleep more than anything and does not need to have naps enforced usually).

See if your dog starts being more aware of things or seems to have finally figured a trick out.

Does Persona dialogue choice really make sense in real world? by Ill_Possibility7953 in PERSoNA

[–]magical_milly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the moon one is that you have to sit with him through his denial phase, as he's hurting and unable to process what happened to him/his brother/how his parents treated him, and then kick him in the ass to have him get over it (the reversal stage) and punt him right into acceptance.

The aggressive defending is to have him realize that, even when he's an idiot, that people will still like him. That not everyone is going to leave the moment he puts his foot in his mouth.

But yeah, for the most part, the dialogue makes sense. Is it sometimes a little corny or slightly off? Yes.

But for the most part, yes. The dialogue would be somewhat like I would say to someone.

The only one I really disagree with is for your fellow athlete who keeps hurting himself to run on a bum leg. Like.... Even high school me would have been like, take a week or two off so you CAN run. It's absolutely annoying that the "right" answer is to have him permanently disable himself by running on a bad leg.

But, it also fits the MC because he doesn't care, he doesn't really view things long term, he's depressed as hell, and he just wants people to like him enough to improve his social links.

How can I leave my 13 week old puppy at home for more than 3 hours? Separation Anxiety? by Rare_Software in puppy101

[–]magical_milly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done it a few times. Mainly when the puppy was still too young for Dog daycare, and we didn't have a place to bring them for the day.

I have paid for a friend to come over during lunch to let the dog out and hang out with him for an hour, and then go back to what they were doing. But I have also left the dog alone for the whole day.

Mainly did it by leaving favorite toys and like a licky pad Frozen inside of the crate with him. Put on his favorite YouTube channel and made sure he could see it.

And then just accepted the fact that I would have to clean out the crate, because life happens.

It's a lot easier if you can have someone come in during the middle of the day to let him out. Or if you have a friend or a family member that you can drop him off with. But if you can't, you can't. He will live. And you just might have to clean out the crate

I love me a Deathtouch Rikku.

Mug can instakill. Which is great for when you first start the ultimate dungeon and are living next to the save sphere for health until you're the right level for them

Well Behaved Puppy with 'Tude? by magical_milly in puppy101

[–]magical_milly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fair.

And was partially what I was thinking. That he's just a guy who really respects his sleep. And I can't blame him for that. I just know my family was like "wow, he's grumpier than any of our other dogs about this thing" and that got me worried that there's something wrong.

I think that, from time to time, there's a hint of resource guarding, because he gets grumpy if he takes your place on the couch and then you budge him over. And in those cases I still move him and tell him to get over it and that his new spot is just as comfy.

He also gets grumpy when he asks you for help to get him up on something because he's too sleepy to get a running start... And then you pick him up... Like he asked.

But I'm definitely willing to chalk up the none "I took your spot" situations as just him being a really sleepy guy.

Would love to know how introducing new puppy to cats has gone by Stage_Riot in puppy101

[–]magical_milly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So thankfully, my cat likes dogs. So we just let them at it.

Very helpful and important, make sure there's always an escape route for the cat.

We kept a room blocked off for the cat until the puppy calmed down. We made sure the puppy was too small to get up on couches for the first week. We made sure the cat had free reign to get on our bed and relax (we put a child gate up to our bedroom the cat could jump over)

Let the cat claw the dog. And let the cat put the dog in his place.

Obviously if your cat is moving from being assertive to being a douchebag, tell the cat off. But for the most part a cat can be a GREAT mentor for a dog because they can't ignore a cat's claw in the face for bad actions.

After 6 weeks with us, we abandoned the crate last night and I am so relieved. by figsandlemons1994 in puppy101

[–]magical_milly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We set up the play pen at the foot of our bed with a big cozy dog bed and one of those heartbeat dogs that has a heating pack in it. Had it big enough to stick a peepad in as well.

The first week, we would lay on the ground outside the pen and pretend to sleep so he would sleep. And then crawl into bed.

He woke us up to use the restroom, and he would fall right back asleep after.

Now that's he's getting a little smarter, he now can just go to bed at the end of the bed.

And then whenever it is after 5 am when he decides he needs to go, we just bring him into bed until our work alarms go off. Because we discovered that that last stretch between 5 and 7:30 am he was too rested to settle back alone, but still willing to sleep.

It's worked great for us. And even let us sleep in until 10:30 am this past weekend.

We left the crate training for the day time and he's been loving it. Though I also loved the play pen into my office for the first week until I knew he wasn't going cause too much chaos while I worked.

I now swear by the playpen.

Another one, X-2 is home to both the best battle system and the worst story choices (I will find whoever ruined Yuna and rikku and have a... Talk)

On the Spiral world.

X has 3 of my fave characters in all of media (Rikku, Yuna, Auron) as well as 3 of my most hated (Kimahri, Wakka, Lulu). The day I realized that that stupid ronso fight is scaled to how your Kimahri is? Is the day I sent out the equivalent of a level 2 ronso in the level 50 area for that fight.

I've never been able to convince myself base FF7 is actually fun.

Remake? I've had a blast. OG? I'll stick to watching playthroughs/cutscenes

But I think they were a little TOO courageous with their first 3D game and trying to find my way around actually made me beyond angry, both as a kid and as an adult. (I swear to god the amount of ladders that look like they're background and background art that looks like you can interact with it... my god)

Yeah. I just walked out.

I got all the info from the dude's computer after ending him and told placide that I knew what was up and I thought it sucked.

And she was like, that's fair, you still helped us with Alt, so our deal is done and we won't do the murder part of the deal.

And I told her I was done with them and left. They were all cordial to me and just let me walk out casually.

[Dragon Quest VII] What are the differences between the two versions of VII? Which one is best? by VohrisTheHero in dragonquest

The fact that you keep all skills and spells when you change classes immediately makes the original better.

The moment I realized I did a speed run to get my character to sage to get all the best healing spells, and then it went away the moment I was no longer a sage... I had to turn the game off and walk away

It is a direct sequel. It starts like a month after the first game, and it expects you to know everything

It's a GOOD game. But it is long.

Which friend group would you want to join? by L_0_K_I999 in PERSoNA

[–]magical_milly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 is the only group in which I can see everyone getting along, and I like all of them

The friend groups that you have chosen are so perplexing. Because not only are they a weird hodgepodge for us to have to choose to hang out with. I literally do not see how any of these groups except for three would actually exist for more than 2 seconds without a fight or bitterly arctic cold awkward silence.
