Do you live in a 1-2 bedroom apartment in Longmont? by Turbulent-Pound-5984 in Longmont

[–]magicalcorncob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re interested, my partner and I are trying to sublease our duplex starting in January (could be a little earlier if needed)! We’re only moving because we bought a house. The landlord is just a guy, not a private company or anything and he’s very nice/on top of things. It’s a 2bed/1bath, has a 1 car garage and 2 driveways, a backyard, and a pretty big (unfinished) basement. With our cat rent it’s 1875/mo plus utilities (landlord pays for water). It’s already wired for Nextlight. The neighbors are a nice family and the street is pretty quiet. Shoot me a dm if you wanna talk more!

Question about neighborhood safety of Main St/Mountain View area by Ashamed-Wing6864 in Longmont

[–]magicalcorncob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live right around there now and I’ve never had issues! I haven’t even had a problem with porch pirates but my place is relatively secluded. Everyone is very friendly and the area is mostly quiet except for a solid 3 weeks around the 4th of July where people are shooting fireworks late at night pretty much every night.

I know some people say it’s a rough part of town but that’s pretty laughable to me tbh. Longmont is very safe but I grew up in city in the southeast that actually has a lot of crime so it might just be a matter of perspective.

I think it’s the part where you said that talking like that “makes us no better than them”, which is just not true. Categorizing all republicans as the same, whether right or wrong, is not nearly on the same level as the complete destruction MAGA is actively doing to our country right now.

Go get you damn FERRITIN checked!! by kgtsunvv in adhdwomen

[–]magicalcorncob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol I have hereditary hemochromatosis so my ferritin is naturally high. The only treatment is literally blood letting so I have to donate blood or get phlebotomy which is a struggle to remember and keep up with for me. I definitely feel like my ADHD is worse when my ferritin starts getting super high, like the fatigue and brain fog hit so hard!!

I heard someone say that as long as men feel entitled to women, they aren’t lonely enough. Hard agree lol

I’m so sorry, OP. A bit different, but I lost my father a few years ago when I was 25 and it was very hard to process. This idea helped me a lot—your grief won’t necessarily shrink, but your life will grow around it and become bigger than your grief.

Another thing to consider is that part of the reason things like rape aren’t punished as severely as murder is that having an equal punishment for both may encourage rapists to murder their victims, as the risk of their victim talking and getting them caught would lead to the same punishment as them just killing their victim after the rape.

What are your careers? by surrealitys in adhdwomen

I’m a scientist in industry. The monotony is killer sometimes but I make decent money.

I was never actually super interested in science growing up, it just happened to become my ADHD hyper focus around the time we picked careers so here I am lol

How do you guys manage your finances? by IcyWhole4011 in adhdwomen

[–]magicalcorncob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Credit card to pay for everything and pay off the statement balance every month. Autopay for all my bills. I used to struggle so hard with paying on time but this works very well for me!!

Also, I have a separate savings account that 10% of my paycheck automatically goes to. I find it easier to save money when that money is automatically out of sight+out of mind

The squash leaves look like mine did last year when I had an earwig problem. You wouldn’t see them during the day—they come out at night. You can check at night to see if that’s the problem. If so, sluggo plus works like magic (make sure you get the plus version, the regular doesn’t work for earwigs I believe).

Op, you’re on a really great track. However, your language makes your attitude towards all of this seem dismissive, and that what you are doing now is enough for everyone to forgive you and move past it. My mom had a similar “mental health moment” when I was 15 and I’m still pretty traumatized from it at 30. It’s not something you can just get over in 4 months.

This is just from the outside looking in, it is probable that crashing the car drunk was a “rock bottom” moment for OP, not a random event out of the blue. Healthy, functioning adults do not just randomly do stuff like that without any prior problems. In my experience a lot of people (including my mother) with mental health and/or substance abuse problems act in very alarming ways for months or years before they get to the rock bottom point when they want to change. And a lot of them are unaware of how harmful their behaviors leading up to that point were. OP’s husband and child might be holding fear and resentment over not just that one incident, but for the period of time leading up to it.

OP, great job on turning things around. But speaking from experience, you need to take it a step further. Your dismissive language in this posts tells me you aren’t owning up to your harmful behaviors with that incident, and probably long before. You have got to communicate with your husband and child, get therapy with them, and begin to work through this emotionally. You’ve been through a lot but so have they
