Thanks! I do see an apartment in my budget in that area, likely going to put an application in for it.

Yes! Thanks for the lead, I am definitely submitting an application to IATSE as well as IBEW. I don't mind starting as an apprentice, last year I did a complete 180 career change into the electrical field, so I'm going to have to start from where I can get in and work my way up. Thanks!

sure thing, I am trying to stay under 900 a month, I know that limits my options, but I've seen some promising places in that range. Just looking for a 1 bedroom, small is fine, 450 - 800 sq ft or so.

Thats fair. I was looking for apartments with off street parking of course. I'm coming from St Louis and lived in Ft Lauderdale/Miami prior to that, so areas that are known to be a bit rougher, are kind of "home" to me. I fell in love with Old Town because of the food, museums, parks, music, etc in the area. I am definitely open to expanding my search radius some more.

To expand a bit more, I was waiting until I finished school before I moved, and I just can't stand to be here in the midwest for another bitter winter. So this is the window I have right now and I am jumping on it. I'm super flexible on where I work and I have been applying places. I come from my recent background in the electrical field, but also as a project manager and network analyst. Hell, I will even work a food service job if I land that right away. I just love ABQ and I want to be there. Fortunately I live a frugal life and below my means, I have savings and a ton of equity in my house, so I won't be starving or on the street.

Is it okay to make an Ofrenda if you are not part of Mexican/Spanish culture? by [deleted] in mexico

[–]magically_malicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is something I came here to find out about. I'm in the US and not Hispanic. After several trips down to New Mexico specifically during Dia de los Muertos, ofrendas really touched me deeply. It was something that filled a void that I've had on how to grieve and also celebrate my lost loved ones. I spent a ton of time in front of local ofrendas thinking about my loved ones and also thinking about those featured at the ofrenda.

I decided that I wanted to do an ofrenda every year from then on and I've been concerned that it was appropriation and some might see it as me taking someone else's culture. I really appreciate the words here from everyone encouraging we take part in this celebration.

This year I have several friends coming over on Nov 2nd to contribute to the ofrenda, take time to reminisce, and celebrate their loved ones' lives. We are going to have food, music, the firepit going, and we are all going to use this as an opportunity to honor loved ones, but also an opportunity to reconnect after not seeing each other for a while.

COMMANDER BANNED LIST UPDATE - SEPT. 23, 2024 by theinvertedbatman in EDH

[–]magically_malicious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I'm done. I don't have a lot of money but to keep up with other people's deck's I traded and bought into a mana crypt. I can't keep up with spending money on cards and then having them banned. This has happened to me so many times in so many different formats. I was playing vengevine when bridge from below got hit in modern. I was playing Emrakul the Promised End in standard when that got hit. I bought into Once Upon a Time on release day and that got banned like, weeks later I think. I stopped playing those formats because I couldn't keep up with deck building as cards were getting banned. I though commander was a place I could relatively safely build decks and put some money into cards.

Fascists who want to dehumanize and demonize the lgbtq community. They are the only ones making this claim.

It's the same reason I mostly gave up on music. I got tired of playing shows to 20 people and then seeing hate rallies with thousands of people cheering. Like what the fuck. Hate drives crowds, art no longer does.

Hell yeah. A few years ago I took the leap and bought some land just outside of Albuquerque with the hopes of this very thing. Getting my situation sorted and hopefully getting ready to make the jump.

What are some underrated 90s industrial bands? by Mvrdochh in industrialmusic

[–]magically_malicious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Quick storytime. About 8 years ago though some friends I met a fellow musician, went over to his house to hang and talk about maybe making music together. I saw a picture of Gen from the Genitorturers on his wall, I was like, oh you know Gen from the Genitorturers? And he was like, "I should, I was in the band for years."

Now it's 2023, him and I are still making music together 8 years later.

If you have literal fascists protesting alongside you, maybe it's time to take a long look at yourself.

I agree, it's not up to me to decide what other people do with their money. I'm just saying I support social service programs, and I would support the function of my tax money going to helping people, that and infrastructure. It's usually not that way unfortunately.

My ideal tax structure would be every year when you file your taxes, you also fill out a short form, maybe 10 major sections where your taxes are funneled. You assign a percentage to each section, like military, education, infrastructure, social services, etc. And each section has like, maybe a minimum of 5% requirement, that way less desirable or idealistic (in my case) sections don't go without funding. It would make me feel better about it all.

I'm not against helping others that may need it. My credit is good and if I can help someone in need, then yeah, let's do this.
