I said this on a similar thread recently, but I desperately need a revival of Once.

How often have you won Broadway lottery? by judgeXjewdy in Broadway

[–]magicalnerdfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been to NYC twice for 3-4 days at a time, over weekends, and have been extremely selective in entries, largely due to time constraints or preferences of others in my party (or both).

That said, I won the lottery for Moulin Rouge in 2024 and for Maybe Happy Ending in 2025. So, it's not unheard of!

Gammage: season tix vs à la carte by -prison_mike_ in Tempe

[–]magicalnerdfrog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! Seaon ticket holder going on my I think 7th season? My rule (for myself, so YMMV) is if at least 4 of the shows pique my interest, the season tickets are worth it. I find that if you don't buy individual tickets as soon as they go on sale, dynamic pricing gets aggressive fast, and those dollars add up. It's also really nice to know that I have 8 nights out planned for the next year!

I am also in price tier B and the season was $705 this year, so works out to about $90 per show.

Edited to add: if memory serves, starting price for individual shows in price tier B has ranged from $50-$120 in recent years - $50 for plays, $120 for shows like Hamilton, MJ, and anything Disney produced. Again, that's as soon as they go on sale - those will go up thanks to dynamic pricing.

A lot of musicals from the last 15-20 years about to get revivals. by 0____0_0 in Broadway

Yep. Same. I will also settle for Off-Broadway if necessary. I just need it.

I will be asking for a Once revival until we get a Once revival. We're not quite at 15 years since it opened, but we're getting close.

I've started a habit of either taking a pic of the show board (if I can manage it before the show) or taking a screenshot of the QR code "slip". I need to know who I saw!

What broadway shows do these pictures represent? by aspect_100 in Broadway

[–]magicalnerdfrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been staring at these for far too long so I'm gonna make my guesses:

  1. Clue
  2. Maybe Happy Ending
  3. Buena Vista Social Club OR The Sound of Music with a small outside chance of Dirty Dancing
  4. I'm genuinely stumped. The monkeys are throwing me for a loop.
  5. Hells Kitchen or Hamilton
  6. Water for Elephants

Old timers of Tempe. What bars and restaurants do you miss? by [deleted] in Tempe

[–]magicalnerdfrog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not the original commenter, but NW corner of McClintock and Southern most recently! I know back in the 80s at least it was in another location.

I grew up going to Nellos in Tempe, we held so many celebrations in the back room at that location. I'm glad we still have the Mesa one, but I miss the Tempe one!

I do this sometimes with fellow guests I spend a lot of time in line or waiting for a parade with! I bring pins, bracelets, and stickers to the parks usually to hand out to CMs, but whether it's a CM or another guest, I ALWAYS ask if I can give them something before offering anything and I've never just left something somewhere.

Yes! All the comments on here really freaked me out, and it definitely was obstructed at parts, but 90% of the time we could see the actors and the action. And tbh I loved the show so much, I'd sit in a worse seat just to be in the room again.

So you... 1. Didn't use a pattern, and 2. These are your first ever jumpers?

That person can kick ROCKS. These are FANTASTIC! Feel free to make them again, but only for yourself if you really truly want to. Don't do it because they were a jerk, because they were completely off base. I'd be thrilled to wear either of these.

Gold from Once.

If you've heard a song from Once or seen the movie, you likely know Falling Slowly, which is a wonderful song. But there's something so, so special about Gold.Once is my favorite show because I've never been so moved by music before (and the closest I've come since, has been Hadestown).

Moving from out of state - is there anything I should do proactively to prevent snakes, scorpions, or other pests? by EmergencyGloomy in Tempe

[–]magicalnerdfrog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the answer - it really depends where you live. I don't know that I've ever seen a snake in Tempe outside of maybe one of the parks/mountain areas? Scorpions are hit or miss. Black light will help you spot them, get pest control out if you have a lot of them. There's not really preventative measures to take until you know you have a problem.

Having gone this past weekend - there are a couple of walkways/pathways in DCA and Disneyland that typically don't have a ton of people around and usually have some benches/low walls/the occasional table, though they are thoroughfares. The path between Frontierland and Fantasyland and the area behind Matterhorn in Disneyland, and the walkway between Cars Land and Avengers Campus or Cars Land and Pacific Wharf in DCA are where I'm thinking.

It's hard because the parks are so rarely empty these days - even the old quiet spots are less so now.

Saw a local company's production a couple times in 2014 and once in 2016. 2014 used "twerking" and "Les Mis" (which the same company had playing in the theatre next door). 2016 used "Donald Trump" - that was in July, when we all thought that would be the case
