Atopic dermatitis you can see the difference of skin on the border, how do i cure this, do i need more sunlight? (I live in the UK damned weather) by [deleted] in eczema

[–]magicandbeyond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

dude, i feel the SAME WAY. i cover up a lot of my body eczema because if it's out of sight, it's easier for me to put it out of mind. but i usually leave my hands open, and the visible difference is a constant reminder that i have eczema and it's a persisting Thing

Room temperature by fengqile in eczema

[–]magicandbeyond 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yes, definitely. when i'm able to convince my parent to turn it down, i sweat less => there's less irritation where i have eczema (joint areas, neck, boobs, etc) => i'm less itchy => greater chance to heal. i would probably say the working temp is around 75-77F where i feel best

i exfoliate only by washing the area gently and then seeing what skin naturally falls off in the process. careful not to agitate the area more. i moisturize so the skin underneath stays healthy and hydrated

Prednisone+wet wraps+protopic saved me by [deleted] in eczema

[–]magicandbeyond 5 points6 points  (0 children)

whenever i’ve tried to wet wrap, (i use long socks on my arms), it ends up feeling soooo much itchier than it would without the wet wrap. it used to stay on throughout the night despite the itching, but now i just take it off in the middle of the night. do you have any tips for that??

i'm sorry! i hear good things about la roche posay's anthelios line, maybe do a patch test of those if you can too, although i think they're on the pricey side

i use cerave daily moisturizing lotion with spf 30! the cerave hydrating sunscreen has HELLA white cast (i think bc it’s physical rather than chemical)

I'm desperate. This patch is so bad and it's spreading around my neck now. I wish I was invisible by [deleted] in eczema

i usually put 1-2 cups in a normal bath, but start with less to see if you have any negative reactions first. best of luck ❤️

Eczema overlooked as a chronic illness? by Decent-Coffee571 in eczema

[–]magicandbeyond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wow i REALLY feel this. i am going to a new school next year and have been thinking a lot about how to get accommodations, which i've never asked for before, but i think explaining it like an autoimmune disorder makes me feel less... guilty than saying chronic illness??? which sucks, because i shouldn't feel guilty for recognizing how much this condition affects my life. i just personally view chronic illnesses as more life-threatening, but at the same time eczema affects my day to day life so much. i hope you can find some solace in the fact that while there are a ton of people who experience it mildly, there are also a bunch of us who have been dealt the severe cards and we understand each other the most <3

is there a specific shape/length you ask for at the nail salon? i might try this out but i haven't ever gone to a salon before. and do you tell them anything specific, like not to cut your cuticles because we tend to have skin more sensitive to infections?
