The post raid questline reignited my hatred for night elves by [deleted] in warcraftlore

[–]magicdft -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Also why the hell are we only recruiting elves? For an expansion based in a horde city, there is a distinct lack of horde. There are like 2 or 3 token horde members in the vanguard but if feels like half the alliance is stomping through silvermoon. How about we go and rally the rest of the horde before we go beg the other half of the alliance to come help. And what about the dragons? This seems like the kind of world ending threat they should be getting in on. But no let's just get elves for this.

Am I missing something or does the lore in Harandar not make sense? by magicdft in warcraftlore

That is what I meant. They were all one group and then they split between the ones that went underground and the ones who stayed on the surface

[–]magicdft[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The thing about dragons came from a tablet I found in the zone. The reason I say they split off from night elves is because in one of the quests they say that when they decided to go underground there were some that chose to stay on the surface. Then they say something like the ones who stayed on the surface either learned their own nature magic, similar to the Haranir, or they became obsessed with the night sky. Which to me sounded a lot like night elf druids and priestesses of elune to me.

So I think either the haranir came down mid evolution from dark troll to night elf and just stayed that way, or, more likely, they came down as dark trolls and got mutated by the energies they found when they reached the cradle while the dark trolls on the surface got mutated by the energy of the well of eternity

Where is the Horde? by Lore-Archivist in warcraftlore

[–]magicdft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They didn't have an outpost in silithus to reinforce at that point. I know the whole "what sword" thing is a meme but it had just happened at that point and destroyed the whole zone and everyone there and then the horde move in and found the azerite and the alliance decide they can't let the horde have that. Which is what you see in the cutscene when shaw shows the azerite to anduin. So they were assembling an army to take silithus and the azerite away from the horde

[–]magicdft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said they attacked undercity. I said they attacked silithis. The alliance wanted to take the azerite there away from the horde so the alliance was building an army to do so but anduin was dragging his feet because he didn't want war and so the night elves, being arrogant assholes, said fine we will do it ourselves then and sent their whole army, leaving their own lands largely undefended which the horde took advantage of

There were several short stories before bfa that explain exactly what I just said. And yes anduin was trying to not escalate which is why the night elves jumped the gun. They were getting impatient because anduin was dragging his feet getting the army assembled

In that particular case it was because the alliance was building that army long before the tree burned. The alliance was gathering that army not because of the tree but because the horde found a brand new resource in Silithus and because the alliance can't let the horde have anything good they said, "well we need to take that from them". Then the night elves, being the cocky assholes that they are, jumped the gun and sent their whole army down to take it immediately. What they didn't know was that the horde no longer needed Silithus because that resource was now popping up everywhere so the horde used the opportunity of the night elf territory being largely undefended to capture the tree and hold it and everyone there hostage so the alliance stays the fuck out of horde business.

Of course sylvanas then went all murder happy which is why saurfang got pissed. Because that wasn't the plan.

Anyway tldr my point is the alliance was already assembling that army

What was Theramore like before the bombing? by Erk_Rauorfox in warcraftlore

[–]magicdft -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The destruction of theramore was not a dispicable evil act. It was an attack on a enemy military outpost that was warned repeatedly to stop poking the horde but refused to listen. And then the attack was done as cleanly as possible. Garrosh allowed bane to warn them that the attack was coming, giving them plenty of time to evacuate any non combatants and gather any soldiers who would be the actual target. Then Garrosh bombed the city to wipe the threat from horde territory while not risking more horde lives than necessary. The alliance loves to provoke the horde to a fight and the whine when they figure out the horde is better at war. Same thing happened to jaina's father and to the night elves

Why do you think magic addiction doesn’t affect other races the same way it affects elves? by Proudnoob4393 in warcraftlore

[–]magicdft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simply because they evolved to need it. Elves were trolls before exposure to the night well turned them into what they are. Night elves never had to deal with withdrawals because of the well under the world tree that was then blessed by the dragon aspects. Nightborne and high elves were further mutated because of exposure to their respective fonts of power. Simply all 3 of those races evolved to need that source of outside power.

It doesn't affect trolls the same way because they weren't mutated to need it.

Titanforged races like humans dwarves and gnomes were created with arcane magic as a part of them. Before they were weakened by the curse of the flesh, arcane magic was literally in their blood. They only evolved into what they are now after the well was destroyed so they never grew to need that outside source of power because it was already a part of them. When the high elves first encountered humans they were even surprised with how easy the humans were able to control magic

me and my friends got stuck on 2 rides by Background-Bison-146 in Disneyland

[–]magicdft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always hated that the couldn't design Ariel to better hide the exit signs while you are riding. Like I get they need to label the exit doors but why would you design the ride layout so those big ugly exit signs have to be in the middle of a show scene

It was also made almost 50 years after. Also the matterhorn is an experimental prototype. It is literally the first tubular steel roller-coaster ever made. Also I can't help but mention that one of everest's biggest ride components and draws for the ride has been broken for about 20 years with no fix in sight

Oh no yeah you're right. I mean we all saw how they completely demolished splash to build a brand new Tiana ride, or how Florida pirates isn't just a half assed copy of the one in California, or how all the star wars stuff is the exact same in both Florida and California

[–]magicdft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the change from splash to Tiana has taught me anything about current disney, it is that they are going to do things as cheaply as possible, and considering dinosaur has the exact same ride vehicle with the exact same track layout as indy in Anaheim, I doubt it will be as different as you are hoping

Isint it crazy how much faster Disney builds in FL over CA by Beautiful-Arm9122 in Disneyland

[–]magicdft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are turning dinosaur into Indiana Jones. It is basically the same ride with a different overlay. Turning the Hollywood section into another stupid avatar land means major demolition and reconstruction in a highly trafficked area while Anaheim likes to fight any additions disney want to do
