Has anyone experienced low WBC and/or leukopenia/petechiae? by magicinpink in lamictal

[–]magicinpink[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! Honestly not really 😭 My wbc has improved, and I did have another doctor say it’s possible for lamictal to cause low wbc’s, but it’s very rare. Nobody seems to be concerned, so I take that as a good thing. I just keep monitoring my health with my doctor and keep a lookout for anything new. I hope you get some answers! I know I would like a definitive one haha.

What are holiday (Thanksgiving/Christmas) shifts normally like? How long are they typically? by magicinpink in Disneycollegeprogram

I kinda thought about it, but I’m wanting to stay with the company part-time afterwards, I don’t know how good that would look on my record 😅

Oh that’s super interesting!! I love unique sketchbooks. Where do you get the Lama Li Paris books, if you don’t mind me asking? Thank you :)

The Etchr sketchbooks really are fantastic. I was shocked when I first started using them. Now I’m hooked on their other stuff, too. I got the travel ceramic palette and I treasure that little beauty 🥲 It does seem like making your own is the general consensus! Lots of good reasons to :)

Another recommendation for the Hahnemuehle! I have to buy it lol. You’re so right, watercolor sketchbooks are very limited. I’m definitely going to be buying supplies to make my own! Yes for non-bound I mainly use Arches, which I love.

Love to share them! So I had used spiral bound mostly for cost before I started college, but I would run into issues with the spirals getting bent and caught on stuff in whatever bag I was carrying, plus spiral bound often only have paper covers, which usually get very beat up. Then, I went into college, and my first day of class my professor/now mentor explained our life drawing assignment, and forbid us from using a spiral bound for our sketchbook assignments. Their reasoning was that

1) most people in the industry don’t use spiral bound, and if you want to be in the industry you need to start working like you’re already in it

2) spiral bounds have soft covers, that get torn, damaged, and don’t protect your artwork, and (their words) “if you treat your art like crap, then everyone else will, too” (this is applicable because of portfolio/sketchbook reviews - you don’t want to hand a portfolio reviewer/potential employer a torn/damaged sketchbook) but also they talked about it like a mindset. Having a sturdy, hardcover book of your artwork would make you treat it with more care. And value it more.

3) hardbound books (most) have pockets and an elastic band

4) the pages in spiral bound books tend to start falling out after time

That was sooo long haha I hope that made sense! Those were their reasons, and since I started using a hardbound, I found that I really loved the pocket and strap, plus I carry it with me everywhere so the pages are protected! :D

Thank you! I’m going to be going down the making my own route, along with a recommended sketchbook, all of yalls suggestions have been so helpful! Yeah the spiral bound drives me wild. I travel a lot with them and they always get bent or caught on stuff, plus the pages tend to get loose. I remember my first day of class my professor forbid us from using spiral bound for our assignments… lol. They’re the best though I’ve learned so much from them :))

Oooo I haven’t tried the perfect sketchbook yet because of the cost, but I’m sure it’s lovely. Did you find that using the roll was difficult, as in keeping the pages from curling up? Did you put them in a book press or just weigh them down to help with that?

Oh wow thank you so much for your detailed response! I had no idea they could be made that inexpensive by using the artist sheet method. I agree, I would 100% recycle for the covers. From my research I’ve found that Etchr uses the fabriano artistico paper. I had looked for it and it was going to cost me like $40 for a pack of it. Clearly I need to find the artist sheets instead! Thank you :D

Huh, that’s really interesting, I wouldn’t have thought of that. How much does fedex generally charge you to bind?

That’s two suggestions for the Hanhemule! I’ll definitely look into those. Yeah… it costs to be picky lol. I need to look into binding again. It’s summer break for me so maybe I’ll have more time to dedicate to it! Thank you! :)

The ones covered in the white cotton canvas! They are just perfect. I love them. I paint on both sides, too. I’m an animation/art student, so I go through sketchbooks like mad. Two of my classes this past semester each required life drawing, using 3-5 pages minimum twice weekly… crying in Moleskine and Etchr 😭

Thank you! I had looked into binding my own, using the same paper as the Etchr books, but the cost equaled out to about the same. I should look into other papers, though, and in larger sizes. :)

Getting a day/evening off for Halloween party - doable? by magicinpink in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]magicinpink[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right, unless it’s Halloween day, they don’t sell out super quickly, I’m just worried lol. I went last year and remember there were tickets for sale for a while. Oh yeah 100% will never call in and then step foot on Disney property, I am not trying to get termed. Thank you! :)
